Under the supervision of the VP of Membership and Marketing, the Director of Marketing and Communications will provide oversight and guidance ensuring that all marketing initiatives are consistent with the YMCA’s identity as a cause driven organization, focusing on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  Responsibilities include marketing campaigns and project management, internal and external communication, creative writing and content creation, public relations and positioning, brand management and staff education, social media planning and oversight, and aid in association advancement of its digital presence. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Oversee day to day operations of association marketing department and direct supervision of Director of Digital Marketing.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the association digital strategy with a direct impact on SEO, membership growth and program registration
  • Oversee and protect the integrity of the Y brand.
  • Contribute copy that is consistent and an accurate reflection of the Y’s brand for a variety of marketing materials, including website, press releases, promotional materials and advertisements.
  • Assist in the development and execution of yearly association promotional plan. To include membership development, all program areas, and mission resources (fundraising)       
  • Manage and strategically grow the Y’s efforts across social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, LinkedIn, Instagram, among others.
  • Stay abreast with new technology and continually search for new ways to connect with members through social media and other digital platforms.
  • Support the production of promotional videos, photographs, Y stories and blog content into the Y’s communication vehicles.
  • Responsible for staying up to date with events, offerings, and initiatives at the Y to ensure programs and events are well publicized.
  • Responsible for the planning and rollout of association marketing campaigns and other marketing-related projects.
  • Attend Y events to capture stories, photos, video etc.
  • Must be able to work occasional nights/weekends.
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously within deadlines.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or a related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 5 years of prior experience in Marketing and Communication.
  • Prior experience in Digital Marketing and e-Commerce is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently or as a team, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, precise, persuasive and promotional communications.
  • Clear understanding of brand management and brand advocacy.
  • Must have good knowledge of basic business principles, sound reasoning ability, and a high aptitude for working with people. 
  • Excellent computer and graphic software skills with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite 5 (particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator), and Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint). 
  • Must be able to demonstrate association leadership through creative influence.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00
