The Senior Advisor will be responsible for providing insight and innovative thought leadership around emerging technologies, with a special emphasis on Artificial Intelligence techniques, to the organization.  This unique position will be exciting and challenging for the right person who wants to be a part of a growing department that is redefining conservation technology.

The Senior Advisor will be responsible for driving innovation in conservation technologies through the use of all emerging technologies that could benefit our cause and drive results.  Cognitive technologies, knowledge frameworks, contextual learning and ubiquitous AI will help generate decisioning systems and contextual patterns that can be leveraged by a variety of constituents, including but not limited to, NGO’s, Governments, public and private companies, and individuals.  This individual will guide others, both internal and external to the organization, in technology innovation and strategy.  This individual understands the difference between theoretical and applied AI and has experience bringing AI to end users.

 


RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • Act independently and as a thought leader for the organization;
  • Work within scope of program’s strategic goals;
  • Manage by influence for internal and external partners;
  • Make quick, actionable decisions by leveraging design sprints and agile techniques;
  • Ability to explain complex ideas to non-technical people;
  • Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms;
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical techniques and concepts;
  • Must be able to travel and work flexible hours, as needed.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and 10 years’ experience in Artificial Intelligence, Cognitive Technologies, Contextual Learning and Machine Learning.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience in working with/applying systems technology/project management technologies best practices.
  • Experience conceiving and implementing strategic initiatives.
  • Experience conceiving, developing, and managing multiple projects and strategic goals.
  • Experience managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Management experience of a large multidisciplinary department, including planning and delivering budgetary responsibilities.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated;
  • Experience with chatbots, AI/ML platforms and contextual machine learning;
  • Proven “Big Picture” thinking;
  • Deep knowledge of AI/ML algorithms and selection criteria;
  • Experience working across departments and outside an organization;
  • Ability to implement complex processes;
  • Ability to use emerging and existing technology to achieve desired results;
  • Strong sense of curiosity;
  • Successful experience implementing strategic program goals.
