Managing Director, Early Childhood Systems Leadership

The Managing Director, Early Childhood Systems Leadership will lead Teach for America-Colorado’s entrance into the early childhood sector by designing our model for systems-level impact and sector coordination, and enlisting a broad coalition of supporters to mobilize behind key systemic levers.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for advocating for change for our youngest learners and a desire to work towards systemic impact in Colorado’s fragmented early childhood system.  This position provides an unparalleled opportunity for individuals with early childhood systems leadership expertise to expand Teach For America's current impact and future growth in Colorado.

In addition, this role will support the development of our internal early childhood program in partnership with our Director, Early Childhood Initiative.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Systems Leadership & Policy Change (40%)

  • Identify the policy and ecosystem preconditions that must be in place to (a) enable us to build a long-term ECE talent pipeline and (b) contribute to the sustainability of the larger ECE system;
  • Clearly define TFA’s role and capacity to influence these preconditions;
  • Engage with a broad and diverse community of Colorado’s ECE experts and leaders in supporting appropriate policy reforms and advocacy initiatives that support these preconditions;  
  • Support our community of ECE stakeholders to share learnings, replicate innovations, and advance sector best practices; and
  • Scale and refine TFA-Colorado’s early childhood systems impact model by:
    • Mobilizing TFA’s network and the broader ECE community behind key policy issues;
    • Working to broaden our coalition to include more diverse stakeholders; and
    • Following-through on identified advocacy and policy priorities from year 

Programmatic Management (25%)

  • Manage the Director, Early Childhood Initiative in designing and implementing our ECE program
  • Ensure TFA-Colorado's early childhood program is addressing all requirements of grant related funding

 Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement (25%)

  • Leverage TFA-Colorado’s network model to more tightly connect and mobilize our membership around key policy and systems-level issues.
  • Mobilize a diverse and fragmented early childhood community behind a focused and coordinated set of goals.

Fulfilling our Mission through Organizational and Regional Priorities (10%)

  • Attend regional retreats held throughout the year, monthly staff meetings, and occasional conferences and trainings
  • Participate in organizational priorities such as corps member selection and incoming corps member matriculation
Educational Background: 
Master’s degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.
Skills/Experience: 

Prior Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the early childhood sector
  • Experience with systems level organization/work

Work Demands

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends on rare occasions.
  • Travel: Local travel may be required on occasion.
