Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA youth and teen programming.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsibilities:

Youth Center

  1. Recruit, train and supervise staff.
  2. Plan monthly activities to foster relationship and grow teen programming.
  3. Incorporate youth center staff into monthly activities.
  4. Establish relationships to foster belonging with area youths.

Teen Leaders Club

  1. Recruit and train youth in volunteer leadership for total association.
  2. Hold weekly meetings with participants.
  3. Maintain Teen Leaders Club Social Media pages.
  4. Attend weekend retreats, service weekends and week-long Leaders Training School.
  5. Provide leadership for hosting Black Swamp Service Weekend and organizing volunteers for Special Olympics State Games.
  6. Attend area schools for recruitment purposes of Leaders program and volunteers.

Youth Sports : Soccer and Track & Field

  1. Develop league schedules, rules and team rosters.
  2. Recruit, train and supervise volunteer coaches and officials.
  3. Implement YMCA Character Development into programs.
  4. Establish collaborations with local agencies to continue growth of programs.
  5. Work with FCA on collaboration to implement Christian principles into our sports programs.

Special Tasks

  1. Work as a lead member of the staff team to assist with the development and implementation of special events.
  2. Provide leadership and structure to the Chaplain program.
  3. Plan and implement the Fun Night Programs.
  4. Take leadership role in building supervision responsibility.
  5. Take leadership role in Homeschool PE program.
Skills/Experience: 
  • This position requires a minimum of a 2-year degree or applicable experience.  A Bachelor's degree in related field is highly preferred.  
  • This person needs to have a good overall understanding of YMCA philosophy and values.
  • The Youth Director will be part of a staff team at the YMCA and must possess a leadership style that is team-oriented.
