Position Overview

The Partnerships Manager is a primary member of the fundraising team for the Girl Up campaign and is responsible for the day-to-day communication with, reporting for, and overall management of many of Girl Up’s high-level partners, champions and donors.  This position also works in close collaboration with the Girl Up grassroots team, on the implementation and tracking of partnership deliverables.

Working Relationships:

The Partnerships Manager reports to the Deputy Director, Girl Up, and is an integral part of a close-knit, passionate team devoted to key partners and constituencies that help us build the next generation of globally-minded girl leaders around the world, and improve the lives of adolescent girls in developing countries. The Partnerships Manager works under the general management of the Director and Deputy Director, Girl Up, who serve as the lead fundraisers for Girl Up.  The Partnership Manager also works closely with all members of the Girl Up team and across other UNF departments and programs such as Integrated Development, BSBR, Public Affairs and Finance.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsibilities:

  • Relationship management – manage a portfolio of relationships with corporate partners, major donors, celebrity champions and other key Girl Up supporters:
  • Corporate partnerships: deliver exceptional relationship management through constant communications with Girl Up’s corporate partners.  Collaborate with the grassroots team to track partnership deliverables; responsible for generating all partnership reports;
  • Major donors: build strong working relationships with Girl Up’s individual donors to help steward major gifts and keep donors close to Girl Up. Work with Girl Up’s Sr. Development Associate to create a flow of communication to donors that keeps them regularly updated on Girl Up’s activities;
  • Celebrity Champions – work closely with Girl Up’s celebrity champions and their teams to ensure continuous, quality engagement of our champions;
  • Data Management & Reporting – Draft all partnership reports based on partnership deliverables and timelines; work with the Sr. Development Associate to run monthly reports on campaign contributions and interactions and to track and manage donor information, stewardship and cultivation details.
  • Event Planning – assist campaign volunteers in planning and facilitating small and medium sized fundraising and cultivation events in support of Girl Up.  Work with Girl Up fundraising team on the planning and implementation of the annual Partner & Investor Collective and in the planning of other Girl Up donor events;
  • Management – manage, trains and support Sr. Development Associate and other staff as appropriate;
  • Travel – be available to travel up to 20% of the time to build partnership relationships and steward major donors;
  • Other – provide other fundraising and campaign support as needed.
Educational Background: 
College Degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum Experience Required: 7 years of experience in a development, sales or partnership role with a strong track record of success;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, dynamic people-skills;
  • Interest in and passion for global gender equality;
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial, fun and team-oriented;
  • Flexible schedule with an ability to travel and work evenings and weekends when necessary;
  • Self-starter and ability to work across multiple departments and with a range of people;
  • Knowledge of relationship management (CRM) systems like Raiser’s Edge and Salesforce as well as online fundraising tools is a plus;
  • Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter with both energy and creativity;
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time;
  • Dependability, openness and flexibility;
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stress;
  • Ability to meet regular attendance / tardiness policy.
