The Database & Center Assistant will maintain membership and donor records, entering new data and updating existing data records in the Donor Perfect software system. In addition, this position will provide customer service to visitors and maintain Farm Discovery and Education Center lobbies for the public and promote Aullwood’s mission to increase understanding and preservation of the planet by children and adults through education, research, and recreation. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Ensure accurate and up-to-date records in database systems; enter donor and membership data
Responsible for maintaining data integrity, including updating address and pertinent donor information
Extract data, generate reports and create a variety of mailing lists
Prepare lapsed member packets
Greet members and visitors and take admission for Aullwood property
Orient visitors to the Aullwood property
Answer visitor questions and inform them of current Aullwood events and activities
Perform light housekeeping ensuring reception and lobby areas are neat and organized
Answer phone calls and operate front desk including maintaining brochures, newsletters, etc.
Inform visitors of Aullwood policies/rules
Sell, promote, stock and assist with inventory of Aullwood Farm products and Nature Store merchandise at the Nature Store & Gift Shop and/or the Farm Kiosk
Assist with special events
Sell Aullwood memberships
Train interns or others on front desk duties
Serve in other capacities as needed to assist with Aullwood operations

Educational Background: 
High School Diploma or equivalent required and at least one year experience in a support role
Skills/Experience: 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required. Familiarity with donor database systems, specifically Donor Perfect, preferred
  • Ability to learn new software essential
  • Must be well organized and have meticulous attention to detail
  • Must handle confidential material appropriately
  • Strong customer service and relationship building skills
  • Excellent communication skills and welcoming demeanor
  • Must be eager to learn and share knowledge with others
  • Self-motivated, dedicated to accomplishing tasks, able to take initiative and solve problems
  • Must be people-oriented, work well in a team and professionally represent Audubon to the public and volunteers
  • Able to follow directions and have a strong desire to work independently
  • Previous experience operating a cash register a plus
  • Passion for conservation and/or interest in nature strongly preferred
