Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA youth and teen programming for the Greater Dayton area. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Plans, designs, evaluates, and implements all aspects of the teen program, in accordance with YMCA of the USA and YMCA of Greater Dayton guidelines. This includes but is not limited to Youth and Government, Junior Leadership Dayton (JLD), JLD Alumni Resource Program, Summer Activity Leaders, Teens in Action summer programming, and Mentors Matter summer program.
  • Directs, supervises and monitors teen program operations and activities to meet YMCA objectives and adhere to all state, local, and federal regulations. 
  • Build positive working relationships with neighborhood schools, community organizations, government agencies, teachers, and students to assess and meet the needs of teens and to assist them in developing leadership skills and knowledge for the betterment of our community. 
  • Build relationships with parents and families to engage them in the leadership development of teens.
  • Bring resources and activities into the program specifically designed to support teenagers and the current issues teens face in today’s society. 
  • Educate teenagers on the importance of their future decisions and guide them in effective decision-making skills. 
  • Develops, monitors, and effectively forecasts program budget to meet fiscal objectives. 
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, directs, and motivates staff and volunteers. 
  • Leads volunteer board in fundraising and mentor recruitment. 
  • Responsible for all aspects of program development, quality and safety.
  • Promotes programs by development and distribution of marketing materials in compliance with association standards. 
  • Oversee staff in the selection of high school juniors to participate in the junior leadership program. 
  • Schedules, plans, oversees all aspects of field trips including but not limited to transportation, supervision of participants, staff and volunteers, sleeping arrangements when applicable, safety precautions, and parent approval.
  • Attends field trips and is required to stay overnight for program activities when scheduled. 
  • Active fundraising for programs and program participant scholarships. 
  • Plans and implements special events.
  • Builds relationships with volunteers, program participants and community partners.
  • Increases program participant awareness of healthy lifestyle factors and the importance of education.
  • Participates on program task teams of the association.
Educational Background: 
A 2-year college degree or applicable experience is required; Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent strongly preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • One year minimum of supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
  • One year minimum of effective teen programming and development leadership is required.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license, insurable drivers record according to the YMCA’s insurance carriers, and have reliable transportation to travel for business meetings, training events, YMCA site visits, vendors and suppliers, etc.
  • Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn the internal YMCA software.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $40,400.00 - $42,500.00
