The Farm Discovery Center Assistant will provide customer service to farm visitors and maintain the Farm Discovery Center lobby for the public.  In addition, this position will promote Aullwood’s mission to increase understanding and preservation of the planet by children and adults through education, research, and recreation.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Greet members and visitors and take admission for Aullwood property
  • Orient visitors to the Aullwood property
  • Answer visitor questions and inform them of current Aullwood events and activities
  • Perform light housekeeping of the Farm Discovery Center and surrounding porch area
  • Answer phone calls and operate front desk including maintaining brochures, newsletters, etc.
  • Inform visitors of farm rules
  • Sell, promote and maintain inventory of Aullwood Farm meats; compile customer meat orders
  • Assist with special events
  • Sell Aullwood memberships
  • Train farm interns or others on front desk duties
  • Serve as a back up for the Aullwood Nature Center and provide support as needed
  • Work with the Nature Center store manager to stock and maintain nature store goods sold from the farm
  • Assist farm staff when needed with small projects
  • Serve in other capacities as needed to assist with Aullwood operations
Skills/Experience: 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required and at least one year experience in a support role
  • Strong customer service skills and strong relationship building skills
  • Excellent communication skills and welcoming demeanor
  • Must be eager to learn and share knowledge with others
  • Self-motivated, dedicated to accomplishing tasks, able to take initiative and solve problems
  • Must be people-oriented, work well in a team and professionally represent Audubon to the public and volunteers
  • Must be self-motivated, able to follow directions and have a strong desire to work independently
  • Previous experience operating a cash register a plus
  • Passion for conservation and/or interest in nature strongly preferred
