The Program Director I- Sports develops, plans, organizes, implements, supervises, and evaluates all youth, teen, and adult sports programs and is responsible for staff development, site maintenance, financial development and collaborations with community agencies in meeting the needs of its program participants.
- Serve as a role model to members and Y staff and live the YMCA mission, vision and values of the YMCA movement.
- Develop, manage, and monitor the Sports program operating budget and meet or exceed budget targets.
- Coordinate the development and management of branch and sports programs to meet the needs of the community and achieve Association operating objectives.
- Serve at all times as a visible role model, communicator and interpreter of the association’s mission and goals.
- Serve as program supervisor of the branch. Represent the leadership and direction of the Scott County Family Y in the community it serves.
- Position the YMCA as a leader in programs in community through the following strategies; enabling and empowering of the participants, public/private partnerships, and the development of a strong and stable volunteer base.
- Serve as a YMCA spokesman in various forums and organizations related to sports.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with school administrators, counselors, teachers, parents, students, and other community service providers.
- Build positive relationships and provide quality, caring customer service to members and guests.
- Coordinate all public relations and marketing efforts for all operations of the branch.
- Provide training and support to all program staff and volunteers as well as providing direct services.
- Serve as the lead in planning activities that promote and champion character development in the branch and for the entire association.
- Facilitate program and employee evaluation and assessment.
- Responsible developing the branch annual budget and providing monthly financial reports of the budget.
- Coordinates maintenance of equipment and evaluation of rental facilities.
- May also manage and direct an annual special event for the branch.
- Coordinate program development which includes recruitment, recapture, retention, team building, training, evaluation, recognition, termination, etc.
- Recruit, develop, support and engages the assigned branch Board of Advisors with assistance and coordination of the Branch Executive.
- Participate in and solicit others to participate in the branch Annual Campaign. Coordinate campaign efforts with a volunteer campaign director.
- Maintain certifications listed under Certificates and Other Requirements.
- Adherence to all policies and procedures of Scott County Family Y.
- Understand and follow all safety rules and regulations including knowledge of emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.
- Regular and timely adherence to respective schedule/meetings.
- All other duties as assigned by the Branch Executive.
- Prior experience working with youth leadership and/or development or YMCA professional work in a related field preferred
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to supervise, train, and support program staff. He/she must possess the ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, and members.
- Organizational skills to simultaneously manage and complete multiple projects/programs.
- Ability to respond to critical incidents and to act swiftly in emergency situations
- Minimum of 1 years YMCA professional work experience or equivalent in a related field.
Salary; $35,568.00
