The Program Director - Early Learning Center, Palmer location, is responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of each child enrolled in the Learning Center programs, demonstrates leadership, shows active participation in the programs, activities, and field trips, and serves as a positive and wholesome role model to all participants and other staff in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Scott County Family Y.
- Serve as a role model to members and Y staff and, at all times live the mission, vision and values of the YMCA movement.
- Provide direct supervision to Early Learning Center (ELC) staff assigned to your site, including all program participants under site license to ensure that goals and objectives are consistent with the YMCA goals and that licensing standards are maintained.
- Conduct or assist in the planning of in-service trainings for the CCFS Branch. Organize staff meetings for the ELC in coordination with the site supervisor of the ELC, and any other assigned programs.
- Participate and conduct annual staff evaluations by maintaining individual files for each staff member to showcase accomplishments to assist in completing annual reviews.
- Assist in the planning and executing of program and curriculum for the ELC that meets the highest quality of standards for all assigned programs including, but not limited to, specific knowledge and skills related to Creative Curriculum.
- Maintain a clean and safe work site; assist custodial staff as needed to ensure a clean and safe environment. Ensure that cleaning checklists are completed in compliance with QRS guidelines.
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and appraising the work of the ELC, including taking calls related to staff absences.
- Monitor City and State activities pertaining to Early Childhood to ensure you are abreast of current trends in the field.
- Assist the Child Care Branch Administrative Service Director to ensure that all billings for the ELC as well as collections are completed in a timely manner, including the submission of state reimbursement forms and CACFP forms.
- Maintain licensing regulations and perform updates in a timely manner to ensure site is maintained as fully licensed facility, by monitoring child and staff files and conducting the appropriate monthly inspections or drills.
- Ensure proper record keeping of all payroll records for the ELC and submit payroll to the Administrative Service Director in a timely manner.
- Prepare an annual budget with direction from the CCFS Executive Director and then monitor throughout the year to ensure goals are met. This can be accomplished by the submission of bi-weekly key indicator reports and monthly variance reports.
- Prepare incident reports accurately, consistently and in accordance with established timelines. Communicate to supervisor in writing, accident and discipline situations which require corrective actions. Seek guidance from supervisor in unusual circumstances.
- Participate in and solicit others to participate in necessary YMCA financial development efforts, specifically the Annual Campaign.
- Maintain certifications listed under Certificates and Other Requirements.
- Adherence to all policies and procedures of Scott County Family Y.
- Understand and follow all safety rules and regulations including knowledge of emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.
- Regular and timely adherence to respective schedule/meetings.
- All other duties as assigned by the Executive Director – Child Care/Family Services.
- 3 years prior experience working in licensed child care programs in a supervisory capacity is preferred.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively share information with staff, parents, and members.

- National Administrator Credential or the Aim for Excellence Director Credential
- ECERS (Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale) certification
- ITERS (Infant Toddler Environmental Rating Scale) certification
- SACERS (School Age Child Environmental Rating Scale) certification
*Note: If not currently certified, must obtain certification within 30 days of hire. The * noted certification training programs are provided by SCFY staff.
Salary: $32,800.00
