We are looking for the next driving force to lead our collaborative childcare and youth development initiatives. We need a forward-thinking leader who will continue to grow our multi-faceted YMCA association and childcare operations to help us serve more children and families.

Since 1858, the Scott County Family Y has been an integral part of the Quad Cities area.Comprised of 6 branches, Camp Abe Lincoln and multiple childcare sites including 3 Early Learning Centers and 8 Before/After School locations, SCFY continues to grow and strengthen the community to bring about positive change. Areas of Responsibility: 

The Executive Director-Child Care and Family Services will lead the development, organization and implementation of high-quality YMCA childcare programs. The successful Executive Director will grow and build upon strong community collaborations, always pursuing new opportunities to reach more children and families in the community.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: The Executive Director – CCFS is responsible for supervision of 8 exempt direct reports and oversees all hourly CCFS staff.

  • Serve as a role model to members and Y staff and, at all times live the mission, vision and values of the YMCA movement.
  • Provide direct supervision to CCFS leadership team and staff to ensure that the goals and objectives are consistent with the YMCA goals and that licensing standards are maintained.
  • Manage all childcare and outreach programs within the branch including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in the programs, i.e. submission of weekly key indicator and monthly variance reports.
  • Model relationship-building skills in all interactions; develop and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, parents and caregivers, and community organizations (e.g., state childcare licensing agency, school administration) to maximize program impact and drive overall outcomes; maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
  • Conduct or assist in the planning of in-service trainings for the CCFS Branch. Ensure regular staff meetings are organized for all CCFS programs.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of programs and curriculum that meet the highest quality of standards for all programs, including specific knowledge and skills related to Creative Curriculum.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and evaluating the work of CCFS staff. Develop strategies to motivate and achieve goals.
  • Coordinate transportation for the association regarding summer bussing.
  • Monitor city and state activities pertaining to early childhood and school-aged childcare to keep abreast with current trends in the field.
  • Model relationship-building skills in all interactions; develop and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, parents and caregivers, and community organizations (e.g., state childcare licensing agency, school administration) to maximize program impact and drive overall outcomes; maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
  • Oversee the Administrative Service Director to ensure that all billings for CCFS programs as well as collections are completed in a timely manner, including the submission of state reimbursement forms and CACFP forms.
  • Seek grant opportunities to expand and or enrich program activities throughout the CCFS Branch.
  • Maintain licensing regulations according to state/federal and national YMCA guidelines and ensure that updates are conducted in a timely manner to ensure all sites are maintained as fully licensed facilities.
  • Ensure proper record keeping of all payroll records for CCFS and submission to the Administrative Service Director is completed in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate statewide voluntary preschool programs in cooperation with local community school districts ensuring that QPPS (Quality Preschool Program Standards) or NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) standards are met.
  • Prepare incident reports accurately, consistently and in accordance with established timelines. Communicate to supervisor in writing, accident and discipline situations which require corrective actions. Seek guidance from supervisor and/or HR in unusual circumstances.
  • Ensure all CCFS staff are certified in Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/FA.
  • Participate in and solicit others to participate in necessary YMCA financial development efforts, specifically the Annual Campaign.
  • Maintain certifications listed under Certificates and Other Requirements.
  • Adherence to all policies and procedures of Scott County Family Y.
  • Understand and follow all safety rules and regulations including knowledge of emergency
  • procedures and location of emergency equipment.
  • Regular and timely adherence to respective schedule/meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer.

Required Certifications

  • Must be able to pass background check
  • Bloodborne Pathogen training
  • CPR/AED/First Aid and IA Mandatory Reporter certifications
  • National Administrator Credential
  • ECERS (Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale) certification
  • ITERS (Infant / Toddler Environmental Rating Scale) certification
  • SACERS (School Age Child Environmental Rating Scale) certification
  • American Red Cross Instructor Trainer certification.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $55,000.00 - $64,000.00
