The Head Maintenance Director is primarily responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all maintenance and proficient operation of the Scott County Family Y Association facilities and grounds.  Responsibilities include facility maintenance, risk management, loss prevention, vehicle maintenance, utility monitoring and performing small to mid-size construction and/or renovation projects to ensure the best member experience within the facilities and grounds. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • A minimum of 5 years prior experience working in facility management, construction management or similarly related field. 
  • Working knowledge and experience with mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas. 
  • Must have the ability to respond to quickly and efficiently to safety and emergency situations. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Serve as a role model to members and YMCA staff.  Lives the mission, vision, and values of the YMCA movement.
  • Direct overall coordination of facility and ground maintenance with Executive Directors/Branch Executives and Maintenance Managers to include planning, organizing and scheduling of work projects.
  • Develop, implement, document and evaluate all preventative maintenance programs throughout the association.
  • Ensure the proper operation of all mechanical systems.
  • Manage routine inspection of grounds, facilities, and equipment to determine necessity of repairs or maintenance.
  • Oversee, assign and track work orders. 
  • Complete repair work and projects in a timely manner.
  • Oversee all contractors that work in the facility and grounds.
  • Work with outside agencies such as fire, health, building depts., etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule and direct assigned staff and volunteers. Review and evaluate maintenance staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Advise senior leadership on maintenance issues and projects as requested.
  • Ensure that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operate in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.
  • Updates facility plans periodically. May develop annual plan of capital projects, consistent with the YMCA’s strategic plan and community needs. 
  • Develop system to monitor critical maintenance and repair of major systems within the facility and recommends scope and coordinates work through the maintenance reserve allocations process.
  • Develop and implement a Risk Management program that creates a safe environment for our members and staff and is cost-effective for the association.
  • Research, install, and create monitoring systems to best utilize energy management systems throughout the association.
  • Complete records and reports as required on schedule and maintain current status of all required certifications.
  • Ensure Safety Data Sheets are current and accessible to all employees.
  • Participate in and solicit others to participate in necessary YMCA financial development efforts, specifically the Annual Campaign.
  • Maintain certifications listed under Certificates and Other Requirements.
  • Adherence to all policies and procedures of Scott County Family Y.
  • Understand and follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Regular and timely adherence to respective schedule/meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned by the President/COO. 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00
