BOARD EXPECTATIONS
- The board believes its new CEO should be an experienced leader who has the background and qualities that will permit the achievement of excellence in the following roles:
- Create a Strategic Plan That Drives Innovation and Has Bold Impact: Lead a collaborative process by involving various Y stakeholders to create and implement a strategic plan that aligns with the mission and vision of the organization. Serve as an innovator who drives bold impact to address the community’s critical social issues while positioning the organization for sustained success.
- Lead a Team as the Heart and Soul of the Organization: Build on the staff team’s success by establishing yourself as a collaborative leader to attract, motivate, engage, and retain staff in a positive and productive manner by agreeing upon and implementing expectation for excellence. Demonstrate an engaging, open, positive and inclusive leadership style with a proven history of displaying integrity, a strong work ethic and courage.
- Advance a Culture of Philanthropy: Expand fundraising efforts by working with the board and staff to establish a plan to raise significant contributions for service growth, keeping programs affordable and endowment. Must be able to position the Y as a charity of choice by instilling confidence, credibility, and trust in the Y with community leaders and donors.
- Develop a Strong Fiscal Plan and Continue Operational Performance: Assess the current operation and create plans that will continue to grow and retain membership as well as expand delivery on unmet program needs. Proactively identify trends as well as create a data driven culture to make effective decisions. Provide a balanced focus on strong fiscal performance while expanding services to the community. Work with the board and staff to develop long-term and annual tactical plans and metrics for achieving key goals and objectives.
Educational Background:
Accredited 4-year college degree (required; non-negotiable).
Skills/Experience:
Minimum Candidate Criteria:
- Ten years’ prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or company/organization of comparable complexity.
- Successful track record of fiscal management.
- Ability to develop and strengthen community relationships and effective collaborations.
- Effective skills in board governance and serving as an integral partner with volunteers.
- Experience leading successful fundraising efforts (including annual and capital campaigns).
- Experience leading and implementing a strategic plan.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
- Technology and marketing savvy including the use of social media.
Preferred Candidate Criteria:
- Fiscal responsibilities of $3M annual budget.
- YMCA Organizational Leader Certification (Note: Candidates not already in possession of this certification have up to three years to obtain via Y-USA).
- Graduate degree in a field that supports and advances this work.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $175,000.00 - $235,000.00
