Under the direction of the Aquatic Director, the Associate Aquatics Director assists in program management and operations with a strong emphasis on safety and program quality. The Associate Aquatics Director assists in supervising lifeguard staff to ensure the highest standards for safety and preparedness are being met. Assists in ensuring that staff are delivering the highest level of customer service to members and guests.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist in development, training and maintenance of safety procedures including scheduling of CPR classes/ recertifications for all staff
- Ensure that the Aquatic Emergency Action Plan is current and regular trainings occur
- Planning and coordinating in-service trainings for swim instructors and lifeguards
- Create pool schedules and post online to YMCA website
- Perform monthly safety checks to AED’s and contacting provider for parts or replacements
- Assisting Aquatic Director with bi-weekly payroll
- Overseeing waterfront including sailing program and summer camp
- Maintain certification binder for state inspection
- Perform “spot checks” on lifeguard staff utilizing procedures checklist and submit to Aquatic Director
- Coordinate ELP program, schedule instructors, contact participants
- Assist with swim lesson progress reports during each session
- Ability to work varied times to ensure proper coverage and supervision including nights and weekends
- Administrative duties as needed by Aquatic Director
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Skills/Experience:
- 3 plus years working in Aquatics – 1 year in supervisory capacity
- Certified Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard
- YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor Certification
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Waterfront/Sailing experience preferred
- YMCA Team Leader preferred
- Excellent Customer Service skills a must
