The Danville Family YMCA is looking for an organized, motivated and energetic individual to lead our growing Aquatics Department.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and Y-USA health and safety regulations.
  • Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
  • Maintains accurate records of staff certifications.
  • Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools.
  • Secures and schedules pool facilities.
  • Conducts training for lifeguards, swim instructors, First Aid and CPR.
  • Creates and schedules swim classes, water fitness classes, and swim team practices and meets.
  • Performs lifeguard and swim instructor duties as required.
  • Maintains first aid kits for aquatics department.
  • Promotes and incorporates the YMCA core values and character development model in to all program activities.
  • Responsible for staff recruitment and development.
  • Work with staff to develop growth opportunities and increase capacity within association.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Organizes and schedules program registrations.
  • Compiles program statistics and recommends corrective action to supervisor.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with other community organizations.
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Coordinates use and coverage of branch facilities for program activities and events.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with the branch strategic plans.
  • Assists in branch fundraising activities and special events.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Directly supervise and manage the Danville River Otter Swim Team Program.
Educational Background: 
4-year college degree (preferred) or 3-5 years of equivalent work experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification (will provide training)
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Supervisory, fiscal management and program development experience
  • Computer proficiency: MS Office applications required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong swimming ability with comfort around water
  • Lifeguard Certified (preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current YMCA Lifeguard Certification. All staff must be transitioned to YMCA Lifeguard within 90 days of hire date.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • Current Automatic External Defibrillation certification.
  • Current Oxygen Management certification.
  • Current YSL or WSI certification.
  • YSL Trainer and Y Lifeguard Trainer certifications obtained within one year of hire date.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $30,000.00 - $34,000.00
