The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is currently seeking an outstanding candidate to serve in our School-Age Services department as a Mobile Program Director Level 1.This is a unique opportunity to implement and deliver a high quality of programming while rotating to different sites within the Dallas YMCA School Age Services (SAS) branch as needed.

The Mobile Program Director in this position will be a support to the SAS Team by leading projects and teams in interim capacities as deemed fit by the Executive Director of SAS, delivering quality programming for our afterschool and day camp sites across all the Metroplex. He/she will train and shadow and work alongside a veteran Program Director at a designated location to learn afterschool and/or day camp operation in a Director position,followed by a placement in the SAS territory (supporting coverage for program and director needs, as strategically determined by the Executive Director of SAS)with responsibilities which may include but are not limited to: policies and procedures; licensing; interviewing and hiring; parent, participant, and school communication; following budgets.

Please note that as a Mobile Program Director, one may be assigned to act as an interim Program Director when positions are vacant to ensure that the staff are supported, the school is communicated with, and key relationships are nurtured in the interim territory until the next Director is hired and may interview for the vacancy for permanent consideration.

The Director in this position will meet weekly with the Senior Program Director in his/her temporary placement territory, reviewing and receiving guidance and feedback on daily operations and best practices in a 1:1 setting. This Director will report to the Executive Director (ED), meeting with the ED monthly for check-ins, will be part of the ED monthly team meetings with the Sr. Leadership Team to facilitate the best learnings and communication with this versatile and mobile position, and will receive mid-year and annual reviews from the Executive Director, with the input of the Sr. Leadership School Age Team.

Territory Assignments will be on an as-needed basis but can be changed with approval of the Executive Director as the needs of the branch change. The Mobile Program Director will have a designated office space as each territory assignment is made.

The Mobile Program Director will seek out and participate in networking opportunities to increase program visibility and community awareness. This includes helping to ensure that branch staff have an understanding, appreciation and enthusiasm for the afterschool and day camp programs; ensuring that parents and school district personnel are highly satisfied with the YMCA after school and day camp programs; and ensuring that children have positive outcomes as a result of their participation in the YMCA programs.In collaboration with branch leadership, he/she will quickly identify, validate, and communicate plans for transitional support and continuous improvement to facilitate program effectiveness and change management

The SAS branch of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas services approximately 72 afterschool sites and 21-day campsites per year. These sites geographically range from as far north as Sulphur Springs, as far south as Waxahachie, and east to west from Rockwall to Grand Prairie.This position will work as needed at different sites within this territory.

Educational Background: 
Preferred BS in Education or Business or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in management in education or childcare, with 1 or more years of experience in multi-unit management or management of a large Afterschool Site (over 100) preferred
  • A cooperative spirit, committed to character development in promoting and demonstrating the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in dealing with staff, lay leaders, YMCA members, program participants and the public.
  • Strong skills in planning, recruitment, customer service and program development
  • Demonstrated ability to build and coach a team of individuals as business unit leaders
  • Ability to build rapport within the local community including school administration
  • Must meet Director Certification through Child Care Licensing; minimum of Bachelor's Degree, Associate of Applied Science Degree, or 60+ college credit hours in child development and/or management, and/or 24 months of experience in a licensed operation or similar experience as specified in 744.1021 in TDFPS Standards.
