The Managing Director - Individual Giving (MDIG) will set the vision and direction for the Individual Giving multi-year fundraising strategy for the TFA-DFW region, manage a large network of high-level relationships (including a portfolio of 25+ donors in the $25,000-249,999 range) and generate more than $2M in annual revenue towards the overall goal of $10M. By successfully raising $10M, the development team enables TFA-DFW to reach over 75,000 students on a daily basis in North Texas. Reporting to the Head of Development, the MDIG will create and implement the individual giving development plan that will ensure Teach For America can continue to serve its students and champions sustainably. The MDIG will manage the Director - Individual Giving and the Manager - Development.  To be successful, the MDIG must have exceptional strategic and critical thinking skills; ability to build strong relationships with others in challenging situations; sophisticated relationship management skills; and motivated by meeting ambitious deadlines and exceptionally detail-oriented.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Setting Vision & Direction (25%) Create the long range Individual Giving development vision and annual strategic and operating plans, including setting goals and benchmarks, developing strategies, assessing progress to goals, and ensuring effectiveness. Meet regularly with program team to stay informed about the financial needs of TFA to guide the direction of fundraising
  • Portfolio Management (60%) Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of individual donors through external meetings, events, and correspondence. Lead and execute the vision to secure $2M+ revenue annually in individual giving revenue. Diversify individual giving donor base. Develop, implement, and execute donor engagement plans.
  • Management (15%) Manage, coach, and develop a Director - Individual Giving responsible for a portfolio of donors in the $2,500-24,999 range and a Manager - Development responsible for events, stewardship and sub-$2,500 annual fund donors.
  • Regional Team Activities (5%) Actively participating in and supporting all-staff responsibilities, such as corps member selection and matriculation, corps member professional development Saturdays (2-3 per year), staff meetings, functional team meetings and retreats, and Summer Institute.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Knowledge of the philanthropic landscape in Dallas-Fort Worth preferred.

 Work Demands:

  • Ability to travel around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
  • Occasional work required on nights and weekends.
