As the Manager, Certification and Placement, you will provide critical support to the Corps Programming- Onboarding and Institute Team, specifically with an emphasis on matriculating our incoming corps members and setting them up for success as they transition to the Dallas – Fort Worth region by ensuring through interviewing, hiring, and certification that they will be eligible to teach on the first day of school. The Manager, Certification and Placement will also steward relationships with principals, human relations personnel and alternative certification partners and will work in close partnership with the Manager, Onboarding and Communications to achieve ambitious incoming corps member goals.

The Manager, Certification and Placement should enjoy working on many different projects at once and thrive in a flexible, ever-changing environment. The Manager, Certification and Placement will have had experience organizing projects and events, with a demonstrated ability to manage many small details.

The Manager, Certification and Placement will report to the Director, Matriculation and Onboarding. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Develop and execute plans for corps member testing and certification support before and during Institute (45%)

  • Serve as the liaison between TFA Dallas – Fort Worth and the Texas Education Agency
  • Manage and execute corps member TEXES support plan, including testing registration process, organization of testing resources, management of Test Prep Leader volunteers to create test prep webinars, and data tracking
  • Set vision, direction and operational plan to ensure all corps members are enrolled in appropriate Educator Preparation Program
  • Partner with educator preparation programs to ensure incoming corps members matriculate to their program and meet all requirements, including application process, fingerprinting, and probationary certificate
  • Partner with educator preparation programs and Teacher Leadership Development team to provide aligned, ongoing corps member support—coaching, field supervising, and corps member improvement plans
  • Steward the relationship with the Director of Educator Preparation Program at Southern Methodist University and Texas Wesleyan and determine coursework eligibility requirements for certification partners
  • Provide support for all certification transfers, including previously certified incoming corps members and regional transfers
  • Manage testing and certification emails in DFW Onboarding inbox
  • Work alongside Manager, Onboarding and Communication to ensure all testing and certification information is an incoming corps communication
  • Design and execute a plan aligned with TFA guidance for support of our DACA corps members

Develop and execute plans for corps member summer placement and hiring (45%)

  • Collaborate with the Vice President, Corps Programming for PSA Management
  • Partner with school districts to plan and execute incoming corps member interviewing, hiring and processing.
  • Create a resume hub for hiring partners to manage and coordinate corps member interviews with districts.
  • Manage all district processing, including application, paperwork, fingerprinting, probationary certificate, etc.
  • Manage the planning and execution of District Day during Orientation week.
  • Provide weekly hiring updates for ILT data meetings
  • Host office hours and be available to assist corps members with all hiring questions and concerns
  • Collaborate with the D, Teacher & Student Impact and the D, Institute Partnerships to reach our summer placement goals

Lead across the movement (10%)

  • Serve as an active and engaged member of our community
  • Support, attend and/or participate in region-wide and corps programming events including corps member selection, All Corps Conferences, staff meetings, functional team meetings, retreats, etc.
  • Operate with a deep commitment to our core values, including fostering a diverse movement by partnering with people in the communities that may offer differing perspectives such as parents, teachers, and school leaders. 
  • Own and support broader regional and organizational priorities, including selecting new corps members, encouraging alumni and corps members to join our staff, and supporting regional initiatives
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • TFA corps experience strongly preferred, but not required.
  • 2-4 years of experience

Work Demands

  • Some evenings and weekends required
  • Ability to travel 1-2 times per year
