The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas strives to provide opportunities and programs for all members of the community. Currently we have a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of underserved and underrepresented youth as our Imagine Science Project Manager.
The Imagine Science Project Manager assumes responsibility for the management of tasks, activities and deliverables associated with the successful completion of Imagine Science, a STEM focused program which serves 1,000-1,300 youth annually. This position manages the Imagine Science Dallas sites as a series of integrated projects, each with its own set of milestones and deliverables. Most importantly, the Project Manager will assist the Dallas Imagine Science Steering Committee comprised of representatives from the Boys & Girls Clubs, Girls Inc., 4-H Council and the YMCA in upholding and abiding by the following principles as set forward by the collaboration:
- Provide his/her own personal commitment and energy to this initiative; provide growth & sustainability of program.
- Hire, train and recruit outreach team and partner with community organizations to design a train the trainer model to expand our reach of Imagine Science STEM program delivery
- Ensure certified status & expansion goals are met via use of the chart of work.
- Collect and enter data to gain insights from the analysis of a shared data set.
- Share knowledge and exchange content with partner agencies to increase our collective capabilities.
- Design/develop and update STEM curriculum to be delivered in outreach program
- Secure volunteers in various STEM fields, to come and speak to students about their career.
- Leverage partnerships to increase financial contributions, in partnership with the cohort Development team.
- Seek community collaboration partners to offer Imagine Science outreach programming.
- Oversee a Summer Learning Academy (6 weeks in June/July) at one location and oversee and support 1-2 School Age Services afterschool sites during Aug-Dec & Jan.-March
- Project manager will be an employee of this collaborative "Fiscal Agent" which has been identified as the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, and will report to the YMCA as primary employer and the National Collaborative Team comprised of members from the following organizations: Texas A&M AgriLife Extension 4-H, Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas.
- Manage and maintain a master project plan, along with sub-plans for each of the outreach and trainer sites
- Will work closely with Local Partners: Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension 4-H, Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas and the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas and community to deliver summer outreach programs
- Produce project milestone reports when requested by the Steering Committee or national project manager
- Guide key stakeholder groups (such as any working group teams required for planning and implementation consisting of staff from the Imagine Science partner organizations) through the project planning process (i.e., establish objectives and agendas prior to review meetings, monitor/manage task completion, etc.);
- Coordinate, host and facilitate regular meetings (in person) and conference calls with members of the Steering Committee and any required regular or ad-hoc working groups; as well as other potential partners and advisors;
- Manage an online document storage system where files, notes, reports, contact information and other documents can be stored and easily retrieved;
- Assist members of the Steering Committee and the national Project Director with drafts of letters, memos, emails, and other forms of communication as needed;
- Assist members of the Steering Committee and the national Project Director with inbound requests for information, securing and consolidating feedback from affiliates on various drafts of the proposal and the project plan as needed;
- Serve as a thought partner to members of the Steering Committee and National Working Group as well as the national Project Director as needed;
- Perform other administrative and project management-related tasks and activities when requested; and
- Use software and other technology that are essential to this position, including, but not limited to: spreadsheet software, project management software, WebEx/Adobe Connect video-based communications software and more.
- Produce an end of the year project report that will inform the national scaling of collaborative approaches in alignment with the overarching operating principles described above.
- Minimum 2 years experience in management, experience in working in the field of education and or working with schools, community partners and/or managing youth programs
- Strong skills in planning, recruitment, STEM curriculum, supervision, fund development, customer service and program development
- Excellent communication skills; Strong project management and analytical skills; Demonstrated ability to build and coach a team of individuals
- Must build rapport with in the local community
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, WebEx/Adobe Connect, project management software, data collection
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
Salary: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00
