Today,the Lake Highlands Family YMCA is a 28,000 sq. ft. facility with an operating budget of $1.8M, 3,700 members and a $183K Annual Campaign. In three years, those numbers change dramatically.Dallas has recently gone through a study with GRO Development and it stated, “the Lake Highlands Y has the most potential of any branch we have studied in the US.” In three years, the facility will nearly double in size and have an expected operating budget in excess of $4M.

TheDallasYMCA is looking for an adaptable leader with the ability to sustain and build relationships, play a significant role in a capital campaign, assist in the planning and construction of an expanded facility and lead a culture committed to integrating and retaining what will be a rapidly growing membership and donor base.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the day to day operation of the branch. This includes board/volunteer relations, the acquisition and retention of key staff members, and the successful growth and professional development of all branch staff. In addition to these responsibilities, the incumbent will be expected to foster community relationships in order to raise capital dollars to leverage facility growth and reach of programs.
  • The Executive Director will be accountable to post-expansion key indicators as designated by growth projections through the GRO Study. The incumbent will interact with schools, churches, homeowner’s association, civic organizations in order to create meaningful partnerships to better fulfill the mission of the Y. They will continue to maintain and build programs and services to ensure membership grows and the Y has a strong presence in the community.
  • The Executive Director will be responsible for achieving branch operating budget projections, the overall management of the facilities, as well as cleanliness and safety. They will be responsible for all aspects of the Annual Campaign, which are funds raised to help families that need financial assistance. They will also be responsible for the implementation of best practices at the branch level, implementation and evaluation of operating promises in all aspects of the work at the branches, and the annual marketing plan.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent 4 to 6 years’ experience in YMCA or a similar type organization.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Large staff supervisory experience important. Should possess extensive management experience and be competent in membership and program development, staff selection and development, and facility operations.
  • A successful background in financial development (annual campaign), recruitment and development of volunteer leadership, community involvement and strategic planning is required.
  • Proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management.
  • Must be able to relate well to public and YMCA members and feel comfortable making presentations to groups.
  • The incumbent must have a thorough understanding regarding the day to day management of facilities.
  • Should possess skills in managing multiple priorities, communications and member relations, motivating staff and volunteers, supervision, staff selection, training, and evaluation.
  • Must have the ability to develop positive relationships with YMCA members, program participants, school district, city and the community.
  • Must obtain and maintain all required training for this position.
  • Must be a team player with a commitment to excellence.
  • YMCA Multi-team leader certification desired.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $77,000.00 - $85,000.00
