Exciting new opportunity for a Regional Sports Director to grow youth and adult sports programs for the White Rock and Lake Highlands YMCA's. This is a great opportunity for someone with program experience that has supervised and worked with volunteers, youth and adult sports, and non-profits to take this program to the next level!
Ideal candidate will have superior customer service and relationship building skills, ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines, ability to problem solve in a professional and calm manner, and proven experience supervising quality sports programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Supervision will include one full time coordinator and approximately 15 part time staff and/or contractors for these locations. This individual will work closely to build relationships with volunteer coaches, schools, churches, vendors, and other local agencies and create and meet regularly with a committee of sports participants and board members. In addition, the Regional Sports Director is responsible for a budget of approximately $620k annual and is required to meet and/or exceed budget. Included in the budget and responsibilities is the marketing for the sports programs for these locations. Current sports programs include basketball, soccer, flag football, baseball, softball, and T-ball; as well as opportunities for additional sports as wanted and needed by the communities served.
- The Regional Sports Director will recruit, train, coach, schedule, evaluate and terminate staff, contractors, and volunteers. They are also responsible for approving time sheets for payroll. Responsibilities also include coordinating set up and take down for games, practices, special events, etc., officials and gyms/field monitors. They will also participate in developing and executing Branch Operational Plans, assist with special events, and attend required staff meetings and trainings. The Regional Sports Director will recruit and lead volunteers for our annual fund raising campaign by being the staff liaison to one of the divisions. Other job related duties as requested and necessary.

Educational Background:
College graduate or 2+ years in sports program management preferred.

- Must have previous supervisory experience of paid staff, ability to delegate and hold staff accountable for quality of program.
- Must be able to build relationships and rapport with program participants, staff and volunteers.
- Must be able to professionally communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups.
- Must possess a cooperative spirit committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at all times.
- Knowledge of the rules and organization of soccer, basketball, flag football, volleyball, and possibly other sports preferred.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must have the visual, hearing, and physical dexterity to substitute as a sports official.
- Must be proficient in Windows based programs i.e. Word, Excel and Publisher and other software necessary for the job.
- Must be able to pass and maintain CPR, first aid, AED, blood borne pathogen, and child abuse training certifications.
- Must possess a current driver’s license with an acceptable record and own transportation.
- Minimum age requirement is 21.
- Must have flexible schedule including most Saturdays, some Sundays and evenings.
- Spanish speaking is a plus but not required.
Compensation/Benefits:
$47,500.00 - $51,500.00
