This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
Aquatic Operations (represents appx 50% of position):
- Works with the Senior Program Director directing and supervising program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
- Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Assists Senior Program Director with recruiting, hiring, training, developing, scheduling and directing personnel and volunteers as needed within aquatic and program departments.
- Responsible for daily pool operations and compliance to all state, local and YMCA health & safety regulations.
- Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pool. Maintains accurate records for pool operation to include pool chemical checks and routine maintenance.
Program Operations (represents appx 50% of position):
- Works with the Senior Program Director in planning, developing, implementing and supervising sports programs, camps, and clinics with a focus on an integrated program strategy that supports membership engagement and retention.
- Provides quality service and communication to members and program participants and ensures an excellent Y program experience for all participants.
- Strategically recruits volunteers, including training and development and overall program growth and quality.
- Oversee the registration of team sports, including sending updates, scheduling games, referees and other facilities as needed.
- Communicate frequently with scorekeepers, coaches, and referees.
Educational Background:
BA/BS in Sports Management/Recreation/Health Sciences or related field preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in aquatics or similar family and youth related programs with supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience working in a Y (or similar) membership organization.
- Highly motivated with the consistent ability to meet or exceed goals, while cultivating and retaining program participants.
- Ability to quickly build rapport and develop effective relationships with program prospects and others to achieve goals.
- Consistently self-driven and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective team and individual goals and take ownership for results.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify and leverage relevant data to use in planning and decision-making.
- Ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures.
- Must obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current certifications in CPR/AED, First Aid, American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification, and a Certified Pool Operator certification.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $32,000.00 - $36,000.00
