The Southlake Family YMCA is seeking a self-motivated, family oriented individual with a passion for the Y to be our next Youth & Family Director.  Under the supervision of the Branch Executive Director, the Youth & Family Director is responsible for managing preschool, Child Watch, youth programs after school, no school day programs, summer camp and family activities. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Job responsibilities include planning, developing, implementing and maintaining programs in the activity center, preschool rooms, and multi-purpose room Monday-Friday and some weekends.
  • Develops and controls department budgets related to the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and develop highly accountable team.
  • Supervise, schedule, hire, and train staff.
  • Ensure staff compliance with Association requirements and standards.
  • Evaluate employee performance and handle disciplinary issues with staff.
  • Coach and shadow staff’s ability to communicate with members and program participants to improve retention.
  • Develop relationships with internal/external members and program participants to secure financial development success. Provide training and equip staff with tools to better communicate our cause.
  • Assist staff leadership team in reaching campaign goals through recruiting campaigners, making personal asks and supporting branch events.
  • Work with Senior Branch leadership to develop and monitor department budget specifically related to part-time staffing.
  • Develops annual goals, new programs and strategies to ensure program growth and revenue goals are met.
  • Assist Association Marketing in internal/external marketing strategies and production of material to promote internal/external member experience and retention.
  • Provide timely, professional feedback to Senior Branch leadership regarding marketing, programing and member satisfaction.
  • Maintain clean, safe areas for members and program participants and ensure proper maintenance/cleanliness is kept up in Child Watch and preschool rooms. 
  • Model our YMCA values through fun, positive relationships with staff and members. Seek every opportunity to encourage, motivate and thank fellow staff members for their work.
  • Be enthusiastic toward members, program participants and staff by learning their names and expressing an interest in their YMCA activities. Strive to enrich their YMCA experience by introducing them to new programs, staff, members and volunteer activities.
  • Maintain a consistent professional image through dress, actions and relationships with others.  Speak enthusiastically on behalf of the YMCA at given opportunities.
  • Participate in applicable training and conferences to further professional growth as outlined in annual training plans.
  •  Minimum of 45 hours per week is required with additional hours in evenings and weekends for special events.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field, minimum of associate degree or CDA
Skills/Experience: 
  • Prior experience operating in a Y youth development program a plus
  • 3-5 years of experience of directly working with youth & families
  • Proven track record of implementing new & successful programs 
  • CPR/AED Certification
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification preferred or obtained within 36 months of employment/beginning of position.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to use Microsoft suite (excel, word, publisher)
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00
