The Director of Healthy Living is responsible for the operational oversight and management of the fitness center and all related programming, including group exercise, personal training, youth sports and adult sports. A key deliverable of the position is to build member growth and retention as a result of high-quality programs and interaction.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages all aspects of the department, including but not limited to safety, programming, scheduling, staffing, training, cleanliness, maintenance, and configuration of the fitness center and Rex Building.
  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Develops, administers and controls the designated budgets.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
  • Shares responsibility for facility supervision, special events, public relations, planning and promotions.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations within the Greater Corry area.
  • Serves as a member of the Leadership Team, a key member of the program and special events committees.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of an participation in program.
  • Actively participates in local and national professional development opportunities for continued development.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in exercise science preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • ACSM or NSCA, CPR/AED and First Aid certification required
  • Two or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA
  • Highly developed organization skills and the ability to motivate and develop staff
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds
  • Demonstrated skills in fundraising, public relations and programming for healthy living initiatives
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $29,000.00 - $32,000.00
