Coppell YMCA near Dallas is taking application for a Senior Program Director over Membership & Wellness.

As the Senior Director for the Coppell Family YMCA, the person in this position is responsible for ensuring the membership and fitness center environments are welcoming for current and prospective members. In addition, they are responsible for the oversight of all membership and wellness branch operations. Additional responsibilities include creating promotional activities designed to attract and retain new members.

Areas of Responsibility: 

With a total budget responsibility of $1.5m we are looking for a candidate that is a strategic communicator and leader.The Senior Director supervises 1 full time staff, 1 part time coordinator and indirectly supervises 60+ part-time staff.

Responsibilities include membership sales and retention, staff hiring and development, wellness program development including group exercise classes and personal training,and YMCA presence at community events. This position will serve in a leadership role in Annual Support Campaign. Incumbent will implement all YMCA policies and procedures for risk management/safety for all staff, volunteers and participants. Perform any and all other duties assigned by the Executive Director.

Educational Background: 
Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 4 years related fitness industry experience.
  • Experience in attracting and retaining members.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in working with the inactive population.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the following segments:
    • exercise program design, group exercise, incentive programs, older adult fitness, youth and teen fitness, membership retention.
  • Experience in supervision and training.
  • Y-USA Senior Director or Y-USA Professional Director preferred.
  • Personal Trainer certification from ACSM, AFAA, ACE, Cooper Institute, NSCA or Y-USA preferred.
  • Group Exercise certification from ACSM, ACE, Cooper Institute, NDEITA, or Y-USA preferred.
