The Senior Program Director of School Aged Child Care, is expected to develop and manage the overall strategy for delivering programs and services related to their assigned School Aged Child Care sites; ensure staff excellence in the delivery of all programs in a safe manner with high quality; manage all aspects of After School that meet YMCA and State standards; create a team of highly qualified leaders that place the care of children and family education as a high priority; serve as an overall leader for the YMCA and enhance the YMCA Mission; participate in the cultivation and development of relationships that build member, staff and volunteer involvement; participate in fund raising through annual support, special events and third party sources; identify opportunities for programs that meet financial and service objectives; cultivate relationships with community leaders to ensure program effectiveness; administer program budget, materials, communication, marketing and promotion.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage daily operations of assigned After School sites, including the gym, drop off areas, outdoor facilities, buses, aquatic facilities and office as well as the ordering and maintenance of equipment, cleanliness and cleaning schedules, and inventory management.
  • Responsible for staffing, hiring, training, providing feedback and disciplinary action to all After School staff.
  • Plan and conduct appropriate staff training in keeping with YMCA and State requirements; ensure staff maintain current and proper credentials. 
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of DPW regulatory standards regarding licensing, staff/child ratios and program delivery and knowledge, awareness and understanding of the Keystone STARS performance standards in order for programs in move through and maintain star designations.
  • Responsible for all program audits and programs are operated in accordance with YMCA/ECERS/ITRS/NAEYC NASE/Keystone STARS standards necessary for accreditation.
  • Manage the development, promotion and delivery of high quality programs that are responsive to member needs.
  • Produce an annual budget that is aggressive but attainable. Maintain your programs within this budget.
  • Awareness and knowledge of all YMCA After School programs, procedures and policies. 
  • Coordinate and administer all aspects of program registration, promotion, open houses, and communications. Assure communication and information is clear for all participants. 
  • Be responsible for documentation to include daily and weekly rosters, status of registration, weekly statistics, parent newsletters, all third party payments.
  • Create staff schedules, monitor time sheets, complete payroll, and be accountable for departmental budget relating to staff salaries.
  • Conduct daily evaluation of equipment and facilities to be used for all programs. Follow up on all safety and cleanliness related issues.
  • Work with the Building Maintenance Director to ensure facility cleanliness, maintenance of facility equipment and recommend facility improvements.
  • Work cooperatively with other program Directors to schedule and run activities in the gym, pool and other spaces throughout the building.   Communicate needs and concerns in oral and written form.
  • Develop positive relationships with parents and families of After School participants.
  • Assure supervision and management of all After School participants at the facility, during transport and on field trips by adhering to YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Be prepared to teach all classes in your area of responsibility and support staff in providing high quality programming and classes.
  • Conduct staff meetings, with each program area, either monthly or every session.  Provide notes and attendance to document.
  • Participate as a member of the senior staff team, responsible for the overall operation of the branch, as well as director on duty responsibilities.
  • Participate in and actively recruit volunteers for branch committees and task forces.
  • Provide branch coordination to all departments to ensure successful communication, special events and program growth.
  • Provide staff support to at least one board committee.
  • Maintain knowledge of Association policies and procedures, risk management, safety practices and applicable laws.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 4-6 years experience working with children.  
  • A minimum of 6 hours of child development training per year as defined by DPW.
  • Complete Keystone STARS training hours in accordance with your branch’s STAR level
  • Obtain Y-USA current national certifications in family programming.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to relay instructions in a clear and precise manner, and ability to relate to a diverse age and cultural membership.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience, fiscal management experience and proven ability to manage successful programs.
  • Ability to operate computer, communicate via telephone and ability to endure significant physical activity.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working various hours and days including nights and weekends.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: 39,000.00 - $53,000.00
