The Director of Early Services is responsible for the day to day operations of all Early Learning Centers across multiple areas.   

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Create, develop, implement and manage high quality, mission focused programs that meet the needs of the community.  Ensure quality program delivery and effective use of resources including staff, volunteers and equipment within established budget.
  • Ensure staff excellence in service delivery to assure program retention, satisfaction and growth. 
  • Manage program operations to meet established financial targets.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory licensing standards including but not limited to DHS and Keystone STARS as well as all Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Provide oversight of all aspects of program registration, promotion, open houses, and communications. Assure clear dissemination of all communication and information to participants and families.
  • Monitor submission of required documentation to include daily and weekly rosters, status of registration, weekly statistics, parent newsletters, and all third party payments for all Early Learning programs.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive staff development plan that has a focus on staff satisfaction and continuous quality improvement.  Ensure staffing complies with regulatory requirements.  Responsible for ensuring ongoing feedback and disciplinary action to all program staff. 
  • Plan and conduct appropriate Early Learning staff trainings in keeping with regulatory requirements and proper credentials.
  • Monitor staff schedules, time sheets, and payroll.  Accountability for departmental budget relating to staff salaries.
  • Inspect program sites regularly for safety, cleanliness and compliance with program requirements.
  • Responsible for all internal and external Early Learning program audits.
  • Have knowledge, awareness and understanding of the Keystone Stars and national accreditation performance standards to improve program quality.  Work to attain highest quality ratings for all programs.   
  • Work with the Building Maintenance Director to ensure facility cleanliness, maintenance of facility equipment and recommend facility improvements.
  • Work cooperatively with other program Directors to schedule and run activities in the gym, pool and other spaces throughout the building.   Communicate needs and concerns in oral and written form.
  • Develop positive relationships with parents, families, and local school administrators.
  • Ensure supervision and management of all program participants at the facility, during transport and on field trips by adhering to YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Provide staff support to at least one board committee and attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Direct all aspects of safety related to staffing, equipment, environment and behavior. Know and train on the use of incident reports, emergency procedures, stocked first aid kits, etc.
  • Hold meetings with core staff to communicate program successes and shortcomings and to develop plans to address the identified needs.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Ed or BA in Arts Child Development.  PA Director’s Credential preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5 years’ experience as a Child Care Director or 5 years’ experience working with children and adults.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certification required within 60 days.
  • Experience in staff supervision, committees and in providing leadership to groups.
  • Ability to recruit, train, schedule, supervise and motivate staff.
  • Experience in developing and monitoring financial projections, budgets and assessment of program effectiveness.
  • Experience working with voluntary boards, committees and in providing leadership to these types of groups.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Detail-oriented with problem solving skills. Demonstrated experience setting and managing priorities.
  •  Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence
