The Business Development Manager (BDM) is primarily responsible for growing the childcare business by cultivating relationships with businesses, school system leadership and stakeholders and the childcare external ecosystem at large. These efforts translate into establishing new Child Care and Insurance partnerships that expand both enrollment at existing sites but also the establishment of new sites.
- Identify and develop potential new opportunities to deliver important extended day learning (before and after school) and child care opportunities, particularly through working with leadership levels at School Districts and other educational organizations, as well as other community partners.
- Build relationships throughout the childcare community.
- Become the expert in Childcare Products, Goods and Services, to include pricing and placement
- Deploy multiple systems and tactics that create a robust pipeline of opportunities.
- Establish a book of business and Network of contacts and professionals
- Meet customers to understand untapped opportunities and challenges
- Deliver presentations to create opportunities to work with organization in response to their RFPs
- Coordinate responses using the childcare team to build RFPs and respond the competitive threats
- Work with marketing staff to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
- Present business development training and mentoring to line and support staff.
- Regularly conduct R&D to deepen understanding of the childcare service system as well as evolving trends.
- Business development management positions require a bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of sales or marketing experience with an MBA preferred
- Educational system experience at school district level preferred.
- Knowledge or the Child Care and Insurance industries or related expertise
- Ability to handle multiple priorities at the same time and to achieve results under demanding timeframes.
