Advanced Director for Early Learning and School Age Child Care

Develop and manage the overall strategy for delivering programs and services related to full day child care and school age child care. Ensure staff excellence in the delivery of all programs in a safe manner with high quality.  Manage all aspects of the Child Development Center/SACC that meet DPW and Keystone Stars standards. Create a team of highly qualified leaders that place the care of children and family education as a high priority. Serve as an overall leader for the YMCA and enhance the YMCA Mission.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Plan, supervise, and implement the program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Y, ensuring the well-being and safety of the children and staff at all times.
  • Maintain operation of the program consistent with DPW regulations in preparing for state licensing inspections.
  • Maintain Keystone STARS and continue in the STARS Quality Program.
  • Coordinate, plan and implement daily/monthly activities for the Child Care Program
  • Submit monthly lesson plans, weekly and specialized reports, and supply in a timely manner.
  • Supervise all staff assigned to site and arrange coverage to meet required ratios; provide written evaluations quarterly.
  • Prepare attendance records and time sheets for each staff person.
  • Compile daily enrollment and attendance statistics for each child in the program.
  • Organize and update children’s files while protecting the confidentiality of this information.
  • Document parent conferences, discipline problems, and staff concerns. 
  • Interact daily with all children in the program.
  • Ensure that proper care is taken of all equipment and that the site location is kept clean and well-ordered.
  • Prepare and distribute written communication with the parents (e.g. monthly newsletters) and assist in Y sponsored events.
  • Provide branch coordination to all departments to ensure successful communication, special events and program growth.
  • Provide staff support to at least one board committee.
  • Maintain knowledge of Association policies and procedures, risk management, safety practices and applicable laws.
  • Participate as a member of an Association staff team on assigned quality teams.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Ed or BA in Arts Child Development. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5 years experience as a Children Director or 5 years experience working with children and adults.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certification required within 60 days.
  • Physical ability to move from inside to outside, move across difficult terrain, demonstrates equipment use, see and hear participants in distress.
  • Experience in staff supervision, committees and in providing leadership to groups.
  • Ability to recruit, train, schedule, supervise and motivate staff.
  • Experience in developing and monitoring financial projections, budgets and assessment of program effectiveness.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $34,200.00 - $47,500.00
