The YMCA of Catawba Valley is seeing an experienced individual for Youth & Program Director for the Adrian L. Shuford branch in Conover, NC to provide direction and leadership in sports and family programming. The Youth and Program Director is responsible for development and growth in youth and adult sports, supervision of summer and sports camp programs, and branch specific family events.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Administer all functions related to sports programs, registrations, facility scheduling, program coordination, equipment/field maintenance.
- Administer all duties related to summer/sports camps including training and staff development.
- Demonstrate a direct focus on growth and retention of youth sports, program development and summer camp.
- Develop and coordinate special events for family programming.
- Training and supervising coaches and staff in all youth sports programs.
- Recruit volunteers for coaching.
- Develop, implement and manage all sports and family programming promotions.
- Market programs by communicating with area schools, communities, churches, media, and program participants.
- Provide/schedule officiating games in the youth and adult sports programs.
- Maintain an on-line communication system for parents and programming.
- Implement and promote the YMCA Character Development Program in both the youth and adult sports programs.
- Maintain adequate records to evaluate, control, and measure the effectiveness of assigned areas of responsibility.
- Create and implement a volunteer cultivation and retention program for all sports programs.
- Serves on the Sports Committee for Association.
- Participate in Branch and Association Annual Campaign fundraising activities with an established department goal.
- Assist with the mission and goals of the YMCA and sharing all responsibilities of the professional staff in pursuit of member satisfaction and retention.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or commensurate experience
Skills/Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience in management and supervision with YMCA or like organization
- Highly developed organization skills and the ability to motivate and develop staff
- Proven success in budget development and management
- Experience supervising employees
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational and management skills
- Ability to work well with volunteers, employees, and members
- High professionalism, enthusiasm, and drive
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $29,000.00 - $35,000.00
