Overall leadership, direction and work in our aquatics department. Work will include hands on program work - teaching and leading swimming lessons, staffing and scheduling lifeguards, working with our Y swim team, and working with the pool mechanical and chemical aspects.
This is a non-traditional job - NOT 8-5. Some nights and weekends are required due to the scope of work. A typical work week is 40-50 hours.
The Aquatics Director is responsible for training and leading all aquatics staff. Pool operators license is required and necessary aquatics trainings are required. YMCA or Red Cross is accepted.
The successful candidate will be the face of our aquatics programs. You must be comfortable working with people of all ages and cultures. You must be outgoing and friendly.
- Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations and conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
- Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success. Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Manages the program, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistic to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program; securing and scheduling the pool facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, practices and meets.

- One - two years related experience - previous aquatics management preferred.
- Valid pool operators license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Current YMCA or Red Cross lifeguard certification. Trainer status preferred.
- All CPR and First Aid trainings current - must be current within 30 days of hire.
- Organization and management skills to handle a diverse group of staff and participants.
- A highly interactive style in both communication and work ability to initiane and sustain solid professional relationships.

Salary: $35,000.00 - $42,000.00
