This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening Community through Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. Oversees the development and operations of High Quality programs, such as Summer Day Camp, Childcare, Climbing Wall, and family/member friendly programming.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Directs and supervises high quality program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives (see detailed list below).
- Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Provides leadership and support while maintaining effective working relationships within the community.
- Assists in the budgeting process while ensuring each program operates within fiscal objectives and program fees are collected.
- Monitors Daily Program Activities assuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Ensures YMCA Program Standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
- Maintains proper records/department files. Remains current on all required certifications.
- Assists in YMCA marketing and distribution of Program information, may organize and schedule program registrations, activities and special events.
- Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Develops Program curriculum around YMCA core values, focusing on education and physical well-being.
- Leads Program in-service trainings to ensure quality standards are being met by employees.
- Participates in employee meetings and/or related meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in human services, recreation, education, social services, related field, or equivalent.
Skills/Experience:
- One to two years related experience preferred.
- Minimum age requirements may apply; for example, minimum age of 21.
- Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Driver Trainer; Food Service; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
- the community.
