The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is seeking a Director of Youth Programming: Learn & Play, Enrichment, Before & After School & Preschool.

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is seeking a Senior Director of Youth Programming.   The Senior Director of Youth Programming will be responsible for our Before & After School,  Pre-school, Learn & Play and Enrichment Programs.  This position will Co-Lead the Youth and Family Development Branch by working collaboratively with the Sr. Director of Day Camp, Teens and Family Programming to ensure consistency, efficiency and innovation is happening within their department.  The Senior Director of Youth Programs will develop, organize and implement high quality YMCA programs, focusing on Before & After School, Pre-school, Learn & Play and Enrichment programs.   You will direct operational programs in accordance with the purposes and policies of the Association and other regulatory agencies.  In addition, this individual is responsible for program expansion, supervising staff and volunteers, day to day operations, and maintaining a positive working relationship with all school districts and YMCA Centers.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Oversight of all aspects of Preschool, Before & After, Learn & Play and Enrichment programs.
  • Ensures high quality programs and curriculum are implemented and establishes new program enhancements.
  • Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Implements in collaboration with other programs departments Child Abuse Prevention and safety training consistently throughout all program areas.
  • Participates in a collaborative effort as a member of the Program Operations Team to determine goals, strategies and program improvements for the association.
  • Works with program directors and branch executives to ensure Learn & Play programs meet the needs of the branch and members, provide input and recommendations related to furniture and supply needs to ensure that facilities and programs are age appropriate.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.
  • Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Develops, manages and controls budget to ensure program operates within budget.
  • Works with the shared services department on processes and procedures to ensure program registration is streamlined and all registration fees are collected in a timely manner.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas.
  • Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
  • Provides leadership for annual support campaign and committees as assigned.
  • Ensures processes and policies are in place to maintain proper records/department files.
  • Coordinates special events and activities.
  • Develop systems/measurements that gauge program impact, satisfaction, quality trends, financial stability, and growth potential.
  • Facilitates relationship and schedules regular communication with YMCA branch leadership to discuss space usage, understand branch expectations and communicate program needs for a successful program.  
  • Participates in assigned branch and association-wide events, meetings and activities.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in human services, recreation, education with a specialty in art, elementary or early childhood education, or a subject in the human service fieldOversight of all aspects of Preschool, Before & After, Learn & Play and Enrichment programs
Skills/Experience: 
  • Six or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • Leadership experience in Child Care required
  • Ability to direct total operations through supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $62,000.00 - $70,000.00
