Teach for America-Colorado is seeking a Managing Director of Colorado Springs (MD, COS) to work in partnership with Colorado Springs’ community of leaders, build on lessons learned, and scale impact for students with greater pace and efficiency than ever before, ultimately working toward the day that every child in the Springs has the opportunity to attain an excellent education. The MD, Colorado Springs will work to craft a compelling community vision, set local priorities, and partner with schools, community organizations and local leaders to forward the agenda in Colorado Springs to transform educational opportunities for students and families.
External Affairs, Growth & Community Engagement (50%)
- Create and communicate a vision for working in partnership with the community to end educational inequity
- Serve as the face and voice of Teach For America in Colorado Springs
- Work effectively with local media outlets and regional external affairs team to elevate our presence in the region
- Build relationships and gain a deep knowledge of the political landscape to ensure Teach For America becomes part of the social and educational fabric of the sub-region
- Develop and evolve a strategy for growing our public financial support from district and charter partners
- Work in partnership with External Affairs team to execute a comprehensive sub-regional fundraising strategy, including a mix of individual, foundation, and corporate revenue streams
- Build a local advisory board that will help us maximize our impact in the region. This includes seeking a diverse group of advisory board members who have the influence and networks necessary to support the effort to reach our goals, setting a clear agenda for the group, ensuring we maximize each board member's potential contributions of all kinds, and building a strong board culture
Sub-Regional Leadership & People Management (40%)
- Work with regional leadership team to set annual goals that are in line with our regional vision, strategic plan and core values
- Develop and execute on sub-regional programmatic priorities
- Set the tone and culture for the sub-region that models our core values
- Manage the Director, Teacher Leadership Community, ensuring they are maximizing their individual potential and delivering high-quality supports to our members in Colorado Springs
- Set the vision and goals for engaging, mobilizing and accelerating the leadership of our Colorado Springs alumni within education, policy, organizing and social entrepreneurship
Fulfilling our Mission through Organizational and Regional Priorities (10%)
- Participate in our region’s corps member selection, matriculation, induction, and ongoing engagement initiatives.
- Attend regional retreats held throughout the year, monthly staff meetings, and occasional conferences and trainings.
- Minimum of five to seven years’ of work experience preferred
- Experience working in and with the Colorado Springs community strongly preferred
- Experience managing regional chapters or entities strongly preferred

Travel: Local travel will be required, national travel will occur on occasion.
