The Program Services Coordinator conducts volunteer recruitment and support, community outreach and awareness, diversity outreach, professional and family caregiver education, provides families with information and referrals and CC 1 level support. They possess a high degree of empathy for those dealing with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, excellent communication skills, and the ability to assess the needs of clients and refer caregivers and persons living with the disease to external resources as appropriate.
This position will be based out of the Tri Cities office located in Colonial Heights, VA and will report to the Program Director. It is a part time role working 24 hours per week.
- Develops new community partnerships to increase awareness and create opportunities to expand education, support services, and volunteer engagement to achieve key strategic initiatives.
- Identifies, recruits, coach and support volunteers who implement our programs within the community. Provides mentoring, training, and assistance in the recruitment and retention of volunteers, with the intention of building out a more vibrant volunteer-driven program in the areas of program education delivery and support groups.
- Develops and maintains relationships with professional healthcare providers to facilitate increase in referrals. Assists in outreach efforts and builds working relationships with physicians, service providers, care facilities and other stakeholders who collaborate on Association initiatives.
- Expands the delivery of Common Program Plan.
- Delivers speaking engagements for community education and caregiver training.
- Expands programming opportunities through diversity and inclusion outreach.
- Provides and promotes Helpline and in person consultations to constituents in need.
- Work with the Development Department to provide links to donors and fundraising opportunities
- Support the work of the Walk Manager for the local Walk to End Alzheimer's
- Serve as staff liaison to the local Advisory Council
- Builds effective internal and external relationship networks including supporting others to enthusiastically work towards common objectives
- In the first year, this position has an intense focus on building a more robust volunteer program, especially for the organizations portfolio of common programs
- Works with chapter leadership to establish strategic initiatives, tactics, and measures that move chapter toward engaging an active volunteer flexibility, adaptability, and good humor
- Performs other duties as required.
- 1-3 years of experience in health and human service organization, preferably working with geriatric issues, Alzheimer's disease and related disorders
- 1-3 years of management experience
- Demonstrated ability to engage and relate to culturally diverse clients
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Must possess valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability and willingness to travel by car up to 60% to chapter areas as requested
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google applications; able to perform all training required for organizational CRM system, Personify360
- Must demonstrate an ability to represent the organization with poise, confidence, diplomacy, and professionalism
- Ability to collaborate and work well as part of a team; Ability to bend, stoop, lift and transport up to 25lbs of materials for meetings as needed
