The Lansdale branch of the North Penn YMCA is seeking a Wellness Director for our Lansdale Area facility.

The North Penn YMCA is seeking an individual to lead the Wellness Department at the Lansdale Branch. The scope of work includes overseeing all health and wellness programs, management of the wellness center and two group exercise rooms, as well as facilitation of health intervention programs including Diabetes Prevention Program and the LiveStrong Cancer Survivor program.

The Wellness Director is responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the department, which includes promoting and delivering quality programs, hiring and supervising staff, budget development/management and maintaining a clean and efficient wellness environment.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Create innovative programs, manage current programs, comply with YMCA standards and safety procedures. Improve existing programs to be regarded as highest quality.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees and volunteers; planning, assigning, and directing work; development of staff and volunteers; reviewing and approving time worked; appraising performances; and disciplining employees; monitoring and updating all required staff certifications; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Directly supervise part time employees and volunteers.
  • Oversee all group exercise classes scheduled in two exercise studios and one indoor cycling room.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Coordinate all trainings and certifications held through the Y.
  • Develop, manage/grow and monitor wellness and group exercise department budgets. Assess and evaluate budgeting for facility and equipment needs.
  • Assist in volunteer opportunities as assigned.
  • Develop, produce and disseminate appropriate program information in order to promote programs to the public and to keep members current.
  • Ensure that program areas, equipment and supplies are maintained in an orderly and safe manner. Ensure that all wellness center equipment and machines are in proper working order and repairs are made in a timely manner when necessary.
  • Work harmoniously with the wellness leadership at the Lansdale branch to ensure association consistency whenever applicable.
  • Attend all meetings as required; serve on committees, task forces and focus groups as assigned, both internally and externally.
  • Maintain physical upkeep of the wellness center and group exercise rooms and overall cleanliness of the areas.
  • Be a leader and advocate for all staff and volunteers to utilize MobileFit technology and provide highest levels of member satisfaction and retention.
  • Serve as facility Director on Duty as scheduled.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or Physiology with at least 2 years of experience in a health/wellness or fitness setting with supervision experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills. Must maintain certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid. 
  • Personal Training certification from an accredited organization is helpful but not required
