The North Penn YMCA’s Indian Valley branch is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to take the lead as the next Aquatics Director.  This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced aquatics professional to expand and improve the aquatics programming and develop a high-quality, prosperous aquatics department that meets the needs of the community.

The Aquatics Director is responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the department, which includes promoting and delivering quality programs, hiring and supervising staff, budget development/management and maintaining a clean and efficient pool environment.  This position will take aquatic safety and risk management into high regard at all times as a top priority.  This position will also coordinate various trainings and certification courses such as Lifeguarding/O2, CPR/AED and First Aid.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Create innovative programs, manage current programs, comply with YMCA standards and safety procedures.  Improve existing programs to be regarded as highest quality.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees and volunteers; planning, assigning, and directing work; development of staff and volunteers; reviewing and approving time worked; appraising performances; and disciplining employees; monitoring and updating all required staff certifications; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Directly supervise part time employees and volunteers.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Oversee all aquatic group exercise classes and programs including, but not limited to scheduling, staffing, promotion, and quality.
  • Coordinate all trainings and certifications held through the Y.
  • Directly oversee group and private swim lessons to ensure they are being delivered at the highest quality, striving for consistency and participant progress with swim abilities.
  • Develop, manage/grow and monitor aquatics department budgets.  Assess and evaluate budgeting for facility and equipment needs. 
  • Assist in volunteer opportunities as assigned.
  • Develop, produce and disseminate appropriate program information in order to promote aquatic programs to the public and to keep members current.
  • Ensure that program areas, equipment and supplies are maintained in an orderly and safe manner.
  • Work harmoniously with the aquatics leadership at the Lansdale branch to ensure association consistency whenever applicable.
  • Attend all meetings as required; serve on committees, task forces and focus groups as assigned, both internally and externally.
  • Manage pool rentals and birthday parties.
  • Actively participate in various philanthropic events conducted at the branch, such as Annual Campaign, fundraisers, or other charitable initiatives.
  • Responsible for the annual coordination of Healthy Kids Day each April.
  • Maintain physical upkeep of the pool deck and overall cleanliness of the pool.
  • Serve as facility Director on Duty on Saturdays each week to assist with high activity in the pool area.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree with at least 2 years of experience in an aquatics setting with supervision experience. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills. 
  • Must maintain certifications in Lifeguard, CPR, AED, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, Lifeguard Instruction, and CPO.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00 - $50,000.00
