Under the direction of the Association Sports Director, the Regional Sports Director will be responsible for providing leadership to the youth sports departments at both the Brandywine and Lionville branches of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine.  The Regional Sports Director works collaboratively with both the Association Sports Director and branch leadership to develop, implement and grow youth and adult sports programs that are responsive to the needs of the community and are consistent with the philosophy of the YMCA.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Recruits, trains and supervises part-time staff at both locations.
  • Develops and implements strategies to grow sports programs with increased member impact.
  • Actively recruits and trains both volunteer coaches and volunteer staff.
  • Responsible for creating, monitoring and meeting annual budget.
  • Develops, implements, manages and audits operating plans to promote multiple programs leading to program growth and membership growth for the YMCA.  Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
  • Provides support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees as assigned.  Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations.  Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development, evaluations, audits of program delivery and on going training of staff.  Writes and implements curriculum.
  • Coordinates special events and activities.
  • Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs.
  • Manages all AAU functions including recruiting AAU coaches, player assessment and scheduling tournaments.
  • Performs other duties, as required.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, recreation, business or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three or more years of Sports program management experience, preferably in a YMCA, other non-for-profit agency or sports organization.
  • Three or more years of supervisory experience required.
  • Experience with managing AAU programs, preferred.
  • Availability to work nights and weekends and ability to travel between branches.
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $40,355.00 - $45,000.00
