Currently serving over 13,000 members, the Cleveland Family Y is located in Cleveland TN and is a branch of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga. Next to the beautiful Ocoee region, Cleveland and Bradley County has a population of 100,000 and is a short drive from Atlanta GA, Knoxville and Nashville TN. The Cleveland Y facility is located on 17 acres, and the 78,000 sq. ft. building includes a 9,000 sq. ft. wellness center, cycle studio, strength center, aerobic studio, two gymnasiums, indoor and outdoor pool, 3 racquetball courts, Childwatch Center, Youth Activity Center, and indoor and outdoor track.
Leads YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga and Cleveland Family Branch health and wellness programming including but not limited to: large innovative group exercise programs, personal training, specialized performance training, nutrition, and beginning exercise programs utilizing ActivTrax. Provides branch leadership of community health initiatives including diabetes prevention, Livestrong and obesity intervention and prevention programming. Leads external strategies as well as partnerships with the medical community around health and well-being. Participates in association Wellness PMT. Works closely with Membership to deliver an on boarding program for members and enhance member retention through programs. The incumbent must be able to initiate innovative wellness programming for our YMCA.
Essential Functions
- Directs and supervises program activities in the area of wellness. Must design and implement new programs and expand on current programs that meet the YMCA’s Healthy Living focus.
- Creates and schedules wellness classes that meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
- Recruits, trains, develops, schedules, and evaluates personnel and volunteers, including Group Exercise Coordinator and Healthy Living Coordinator. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Supervises assigned staff which may include coordinators, instructors and trainers.
- Purchases equipment, parts and supplies as required.
- Coordinates and schedules wellness facility and equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Monitors daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies.
- Woks with the Association Marketing department in the development and implementation of marketing wellness programs.
- Plans and executes annual program schedules and manages registrations.
- Implements the department program scholarship applications.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Participates in Program Management Team committee meetings.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
- Creates and schedules new member / beginner fitness programs, utilizing ActivTrax, focusing on member experience and retention.
- Develops systems that gather and maintain accurate data to measure output, outcomes and satisfaction in department programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Experience managing group exercise and personal wellness training
- Proven experience in supervisory leadership, relationship management and program development
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
