The YMCA of Greater Cleveland has an immediate need for a Human Resources Generalist who will provide general HR services supporting the Association's mission and business plans through a partnership with operational management and staff. This role also ensures the employee relations, training, recruiting, investigation, performance management, discipline, compensation, wellness, diversity & inclusion processes are managed in accordance with corporate polices and state and federal employment laws.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Applies State and Federal laws and YMCA policy by providing coaching and advice in employee relations matters, including the areas of performance improvement, discipline, and termination.
- Recommends new approaches, procedure changes and innovative solutions to continually improve efficiency and employee experience.
- Conducts independent investigations on key employee concerns including workplace and sexual harassment, discrimination, and wage/hour claims and consults in decision-making of other HR investigations when necessary.
- Assists branch, and program leadership in the implementation of all HR strategies, programs, and projects including compensation and performance reviews, interpretation of HR policies and operating procedures, restructuring, association survey, employee onboarding, Diversity and Inclusion and other organizational design changes.
- Advises branch, and program leadership regarding compensation matters, including hiring salaries, equity review, writing job descriptions, participating in analysis and market pricing, developing reports and the administration of various compensation procedures and processes. Administers annual wage and salary review process. Monitors performance evaluation program.
- Provides training and coaching to assigned branches, and programs regarding HR policies, practices and procedures and contacts within the HR department.
- Identifies, qualifies, attracts and recruits internal and external candidates to meet organizational hiring needs.
- Sources passive and active candidates through networking, referrals, professional associations, internet searches, social media, and research to meet talent demands.
- Researches and investigates new ideas to execute innovative sourcing strategies including candidate engagement through social media channels.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of Human Resources Generalist experience to include employee relations, compensation, performance management, policies and procedures and EEO/AAP.
- 1 year experience as a Recruiter, preferably in a corporate/human resources based environment, which includes internet and social media sourcing, or equivalent human resources experience.
- Experience with HR metrics
- Experience with HRIS systems
- Experience conducting training facilitation
- Experience in developing and implementing diversity an inclusion initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations, deliver difficult messages, and provide objective feedback to employees and leadership.
- Proven track record in using coaching to develop supervisors and decrease serious employee relations issues.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive working relationships at all levels.
- HR advisory experience with employees, entry-level to mid-manager levels, and supervisors.
- Proven reasoning, analytical, problem solving conflict resolution and consultative skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to relate to diverse team members.
- Ability to work independently and be a strong team player.
- Demonstrated ability to lead an organization through change initiatives.
Professional Certification(s):
- Professional Human Resource (PHR) or other recognized HR certification preferred.
- LinkedIn Recruiter, or Certified Internet Recruiter (CIR), or Certified Diversity Recruiter (CDR), or other AIRS certification preferred.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
- Labor market and effective sourcing pool knowledge.
- General HR regulations and practice.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office and human resources information systems (HRIS) skills.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00
