The YMCA of Greater Cleveland is seeking a Director of Child Care Operations who is accountable for ensuring effective and efficient child care business operations. Responsibilities include the training and development of assigned child care staff, ensuring the quality and compliance of all child care programing, and monitoring results against pre-stated performance goals. Overall, the Director is fully accountable formaintaining adequate staffing, full enrollment in programs, maximization of public and private revenues, and maintenance of appropriate physical environments, and active community involvement.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Contributes to the development of the annual business plan for the branch and each area and supports appropriate branch staff input and ownership in this process.
- Reviews and appraises the effectiveness of directly supervised personnel and makes appropriate training recommendations or staff changes where necessary.
- Continually reviews and evaluates key performances measures regarding service sites, staffing, licensing compliance issues, customer service and fiscal operations to ensure for continuous improvements in each area.
- Initiates and maintains necessary relationships with local schools, community organizations, and other partners to ensure that all YMCA youth development services exceed all licensure and community requirements.
- Implements and leads training for staff in areas of management, effective supervision, licensing & quality, child care program and other related topics.
- Plans and oversees on-going marketing of Licensed Child Care programs to ensure optimum enrollments.
- Continually improves recruitment and retention strategies to maintain the best available staff.
- Ensures system to obtain public and private revenues and purchased furniture, equipment and supplies is effective and efficient.
- Ability to develop, retain and lead a team of youth development professionals that deliver high quality youth development programs.
- Verify that all staff maintains all internal and external required certification and comply with regulations.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree is required. Masters preferred in majors of Business, Early Childhood Education, Education, or Social Service field.
Skills/Experience:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience of demonstrated leadership in long-term planning, designing and implementing a successful child care site, and successfully accrediting centers through SUTQ, NAA, and/or NAEYC.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years successful experience as a supervisor and manager within the YMCA or equivalent experience outside the YMCA.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in creating and implementing staff training programs with successful and measurable outcomes,
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to administer the program, fiscal, and personnel policies of the association, a person in this position must possess the insights and skills of modern management (ex. Continuous Improvement) to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization.
- The human relationship aspect of this position is very important, must have skills in relating to individuals and groups. Must have the ability to empower staff and to delegate appropriate responsibilities involved in day-to -day operations is essential.
- Must meet or exceed licensing requirements and maintain current certifications in First Aid, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse or obtain within given YMCA timeframe.
- Must be able to interact effectively with all levels of the association.
- Must be a YMCA Senior Director or attain this certification within 3-4 years, of assuming this position
- Must demonstrate a clear understanding of the branch and associations relationships with the community. Ability to think strategically is essential.
- Possess positive personality, attitude, and conduct.
