YMCA of Greater Cleveland has an immediate need for an Executive Director of Youth Development who will be accountable for providing strategic leadership and supervision to the Youth Development area of focus for the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, and serve as a part of the Associations Senior Leadership Team.   The Youth Development areas of focus will include School Age Child Care, Summer Day/Sports Camps, Preschool/Early Learning, Closing the Achievement Gap, Food Programs, Pathways, STEM, Arts, Achievers (Cafe Programs), and Youth and Government.  This role will oversee the total operation of the Y's Youth Development programs with a focus on delivering high quality programs for participants, families, and community.  Key delivery areas include; staff development, school district and community partnerships, fiscal management, ensure/monitor licensed status, program/enrollment growth, marketing and communication, process improvement and developing a culture of philanthropy to support Youth Development programs.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and continuously raise the standard of quality and consistency for Youth Development programs.
  • Strategically develop and nurture community relationships that will support the expansion of Youth Development programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of participation in the program, including creating plans of action based on measurement, evaluation and feedback. Ensure high quality program delivery and execution that promotes participant growth/retention and supports academic learning.
  • Lead the overall accountability for program quality and execution, staff performance, and family engagement.
  • Provide leadership to achievement Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) standards and ensure that a plan is in place to achieve the optimal level of Star Ratings.
  • Review and appraises the effectiveness of supervised personnel in assigned accountabilities and makes appropriate training recommendations or staff changes where necessary.
  • Initiates and maintains necessary relationships with local schools, community agencies and other like groups to ensure that the Y's Youth Development programs exceed all licensure/community requirements and expectations.
  • Ability to recruit, develop, retain and lead a team of child care professionals that deliver high quality fiscally sound school-age programs; growing and expanding early childhood programs.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree is required. Masters preferred majors: Early Childhood / Education or Social service field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must be a YMCA Multi-Branch Leader or attain this certification within 2-3 years of assuming this position.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years successful experience as a supervisor and manager within the YMCA or equivalent experience outside the YMCA.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in creating and implementing staff training programs with successful and measurable outcomes.
  •  Demonstrated leadership in long-term planning and successfully accrediting centers through Step-up to Quality or similar accreditation programs.
  • To administer the program, fiscal, and personnel policies of the association, a person in this position must possess the insights and skills of modern management (ex. Continuous Improvement) to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization through the efforts of other people. Ability to empower staff and to delegate appropriate responsibilities involved in day-to -day operations is essential.  The incumbent must demonstrate a clear understanding of the branch and associations relationships with the community.  Ability to think strategically is essential.
  • The human relationship aspect of this position is very important. The individual personality, attitude, and conduct sets the climate of relationships, and the incumbent's skills in relating to individuals and groups determines the eventual effectiveness of the organization.  The incumbent must have the ability to delegate appropriate responsibility involved in day-to-day operations.
Compensation/Benefits: 

$75,000.00 - $85,000.00
