This position is the driving force behind Frost Valley’s content marketing production. As the producer and curator of Frost Valley’s messaging and digital brand, this position is a strategic and fast-paced role. The primary responsibility is to work with the Chief Marketing Officer and graphic designer to plan and create engaging and actionable e-mail marketing campaigns, advertisement and brochure copy, website content, social media content, and more. This role involves maintaining positive relationships with the media through press releases and other PR opportunities. The individual will also identify and write engaging, compelling stories about our campers, guests, and programs for publication in our annual reports, tri-annual newsletters, et al. This position will maintain an in-depth and current knowledge of Frost Valley programs, the YMCA brand, and digital marketing best practices and trends.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Strategically manages Frost Valley’s overall digital presence (social media, email, website, blog, et al.) by implementing engaging campaigns with respect to our mission and goals, while keeping Frost Valley top-of-mind for our audience – 40%
  • Identifies, pursues, and composes creative, compelling, captivating stories of impact for a variety of channels and publications (newsletters, press releases, et al) – 25%
  • Edits copy – ensuring a consistent and channel-appropriate Frost Valley “Voice” by revising, rewriting & reorganizing copy written by other departments -10%
  • Manages website content with strategic focus on SEO (will receive training if necessary) and optimal user experience – 10%
  • Consumes copious amounts of org-specific and field-specific information and data to synthesize it into actionable, relevant campaigns and tactics – 10%
  • Completes administrative and other tasks as assigned – 5%
  • Commits to acquiring a working knowledge of YMCA National Brand Standards
  • Consistently brings and develops innovative ideas and strategies for marketing/PR campaigns and projects
  • Directs and supports multiple projects concurrently and efficiently through the use of project management best practices to ensure goals, deadlines, and quality requirements are met
  • Commits to 40 or more hours per week, occasionally weekends for interviewing guests and supporting fundraising events (with the exception of adherence to Frost Valley’s paid-time-off policies)
  • Models a high degree of professionalism and communications excellence for the rest of the organization, keeping with Frost Valley’s core values
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, creative writing, marketing, communications, advertising, or a related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3-5 years professional experience in marketing, PR, or a related field.
  • Excellent creative writing skills – superb command of sentence structure, grammar, and creative exposition; exceptional ability to tell a story in a captivating, compelling way
  • Journalistic Interviewing Skills – can identify and engage with individuals to draw out details and quotes that will express the impact Frost Valley has on individuals’ lives and compel readers to respond in a given way
  • Extraordinary persuasive writing skills - understands the importance of positioning, differentiation and value proposition
  • A lifelong learner – has a track record of advancement over time in the field of marketing or a related field and is driven to continue to grow as a professional
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in digital marketing – specifically social media marketing, email marketing, blogging, et al.
  • Excellent project management skills – proven ability to juggle multiple deadlines and priorities at once
  • Exceptional professionalism and diplomacy in workplace interactions

Other requirements

  • Valid and clean US driver’s license
  • Willingness to work 3-5 weekend days a year
  • Willingness to travel (both day and overnight trips will be required for conferences and meetings)
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $41,000.00 - $51,000.00
