This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Wellness Director oversees all aspects of the development & implementation of group exercise programming; will instruct 3-5 classes/week. Central Parkway YMCA is located in Over-the-Rhine, one of USA Today's Top Ten Places to Visit this summer; our branch recently underwent a $30 million renovation and serves 2500+ membership units that are mostly millennials.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop, coordinate, manage and expand the 70+ weekly group exercise class schedule.
  • Recruit, hire, train and evaluate qualified 40+ high-energy instructors to effectively operate programs of the department as budgeted and approved.
  • Supervise and guide all wellness staff in the duties outlined in their job descriptions.  Monitors daily operations to adhere to all YMCA Health and Wellness standards and policies.
  • Develop, manage and control department budgets related to the position.
  • Inspect and maintain the facilities and equipment within the department to ensure high standards of maintenance, cleanliness, and repair of equipment.
  • Plan and develop the schedules for all wellness programs. 
  • Maintain accurate records current staff certifications.
  • Coordinate all group exercise programs.
  • Assume all other responsibilities as deemed necessary or assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Health and Wellness other related field or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Current certification in CPR, AED, Oxygen and First Aid.
  • Instructor certifications in classes such as Zumba, Yoga, Kickboxing, Pi-Yo, Cycling, MOSSA, etc.
  • Positive & energetic personality, with a passion for group exercise.
  • Excellent communication, time management & organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate with members, peers & staff.
  • Experience in personnel supervision, recruitment, training, and development of staff and volunteers.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $32,800.00 - $36,900.00
