The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for developing and overseeing marketing, communications, advertising, and promotional activities for 1N5 and reports directly to the Executive Director. The Marketing and Communications Manager takes steps to measure, enhance, and enrich the position and image of 1N5 through various goals and objectives.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Plan marketing, communication, and branding objectives
- Manage content and design of 1N5’s main website, blog, and social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
- Collaborate with staff to develop newsletters, web content, email blasts, social media messaging and collateral
- Prepare marketing and communications strategy alongside other executives and key staff
- Analyze market trends and recommend changes to marketing and communication development strategies
- Oversee creation and delivery of press releases, advertisements, and other marketing materials
- Lead all areas of content generation and production across all media forms, collaborating with senior staff
- Design print ads and publications
- Ensure brand messages are consistent
- Gather and analyze analytics and data
- Nurture and enrich all external perceptions of the organization
- Engage and grow each individual social media community
- Deepen relationships with all media to ensure most effective messaging and positioning of the organization
- Generate direct mail and e-blast pieces
- Design marketing campaigns and materials to support special events hosted by 1N5
- Write and complete grant applications, statements of need and letters of inquiry
- Assist with project evaluations and data analysis
- Assist with relationship building
- Help develop and maintain a marketing communications and social media calendar
- Build media distribution lists
- Adhere to budgets
- Performs other duties as assigned
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in the following is preferred: communications, marketing, public relations, non-profit management or a related field.
Skills/Experience:
- Excellent skills with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Illustrator
- Proficient in editing WordPress websites and blog platforms, and various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
- Great technical and writing skills; excellent grammar and punctuation skills
- Familiar with SalesForce nonprofit software
- Intimate understanding of traditional and emerging marketing channels
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and an eagerness to interact with all community members
- Ability to think creatively and innovatively
- Ability to organize, execute and prioritize multiple projects while multi-tasking
- Professional judgment and discretion, ability to handle confidential information and situations
- Analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges
- Familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies in graphic design, web design, production, etc.
- Extreme attention to detail
- Sense of urgency and ability to thrive in a fast paced work environment
