The Vice President, Thriving Y’s provides oversight of the development and delivery of resources to local YMCAs through a network of state alliances, Alliance Consultants, electronic supports and external firms, serves as the communication link between the Y-USA and Resources. The role will concentrate on Y’s needing focus and revitalization.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop and execute an overall strategy to deliver resources to local YMCAs through Service Partner Ys, Alliance Consultants and Y-USA.
- Act as primary point of contact for assigned topic area of Y-USA’s knowledge platform, including development of an engagement plan; consistent and timely review and moderation of community.
- Direct the development and management of processes to lead and develop skills of local Y moderators; act on reports/analytics; and oversight of content curation and creation to engage and support users.
- Develop processes to enhance and increase communications in the Partner Delivery System, Directors, Partner Professionals, Partner YMCAs and related YUSA department(s).
- Provide networking with Service Partner Y’s and Y-USA and alliance facilitation.
- Manage the gathering and communicating of best practices and information to support the knowledge management system and other Y-USA departments.
- Develop processes and practices to lead, participate and/or support Y-USA projects and initiatives.
- Identify and develop existing assets and capabilities in order to maximize efficacy while not being limited by them.
- Develop and execute a content plan for LINK site to further knowledge sharing in line with knowledge management governance policies.
- Develop and execute a community engagement plan that encourages members to visit and engage with your online community in line with knowledge management governance policies.
- Establish effective working relationship with other Y-USA departments to achieve overall objectives and strategic goals as necessary.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; related post-graduate work or an advanced degree is preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Organizational Leader certification is required.
- Requires minimum of 10-12 years of executive level leadership experience in the YMCA or another federated, not-for-profit, mission-based organization with extensive executive experience in the area of the education and training of others. CEO experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience cultivating partnerships within complex organizational structures
- Demonstrated excellent project management, organizational, analytical planning and problem-solving skills.
- Minimum five plus years managing and developing staff including senior management
- Demonstrated experience operating within a complex environment that requires continual improvement and maintaining a discipline of adherence to best practices
- Demonstrated advanced coaching, communication and facilitating abilities with ability to operate comfortably in an asynchronous environment, primarily through electronic communications
- Knowledge and understanding of shared services, partnerships and creating the most impact as we strengthen YMCAs for the future
- Intermediate social and digital strategies skills to effectively communicate, engage, moderate and curate knowledge sharing and networking with and among local Y staff on the Y’s internal platform.
- Superior verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills are required.
- Must possess exceptional reasoning, problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
- Demonstrated superior ability to build relationships and influence others by interacting with a broad range of stakeholders with different interests and needs is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work proactively in an ambiguous, dynamic, entrepreneurial department is required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous deadlines while maintaining a steadfast attention to detail is required.
- Demonstrated advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence others in order to achieve objectives

Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $180,000.00 - $230,000.00
