The Vice President Advancement impacts brand position with audiences key to revenue and related support.

The Vice President, Advancement creates and executes a multi-year plan to engage partners in bringing public attention to the YMCA’s Commitment to Community Change. The incumbent will develop and engage a pipeline of desired partners, orchestrating the engagement of executive staff and board members in the work. In this role the incumbent will inspire and orchestrate a multi-department internal team ensuring that events and endorsements create momentum and a ‘drumbeat’ toward public launch in 2022. Incumbent will be responsible for supervising division operations.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Identify and engage a portfolio of national partners able and willing to advance shared priorities publicly; engage and orchestrate the contributions of Executive leadership and Board members to this end.
  • Lead a cross-functional team of peers to create and execute a multi-year campaign of endorsements and related events advancing the YMCA’s work in communities and with young people to influential audiences and the public.
  • Contribute to donor/partner works plans for the CAO, CEO and members of the National Board of Directors.
  • Develop and present partner engagement and cultivation materials.
  • Collaborate closely with Financial Development and Government Relations on partner pipeline and pipeline management systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Communications to develop supporting messages and communications.
  • Maintain overall project plans and budgets.
  • Supervise the Advancement Operations team, which manages budgets, data, projects and donor and partner deliverables.
  • Serve as a member of the Advancement Senior team and Y-USA’s Operations team.
Educational Background: 
A B.A. is required. Advanced degree a plus.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Requires a minimum of 10 years of progressive responsibility in partnership development with demonstrable marketing ideation
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of prior supervisory experience
  • Experience with complex national or international organizations required
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams including C-Suite and Board level leaders
  • Demonstrated strong planning, budgeting and project management skills required
  • Demonstrated success in creating and developing creative and complex initiatives with clarity in multiple formats
  • Demonstrated ability to discern and distill complex concepts into manageable and easily communicated plans.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, and verbal, written and public speaking communication skills expected
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Moves Management, Raisers’ Edge a plus
  • Requires a commitment to YMCA character development values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility
