The Climate Smart Forestry MBA Student Fellow will support NatureVest’s Forestry Team in developing leading-edge private capital solutions to forest conservation and natural climate solutions. This includes sustainable timberland investing, which helps forest owners produce timber sustainably, while also mitigating climate change through carbon sequestration. A significant element of this work centers on the tracking and managing the carbon offset sales and inventory. The success of the program has exceeded the capacity of the current tracking system and the Climate Smart Forestry Program MBA Student Fellow will work closely with team members to:
- Create a carbon offset sales and marketing tracking tool and platform to track inventory.
- Develop strategy around sales and marketing to expand the program.
- Provide support for the launch of an investment fund focused on acquiring and managing high conservation value forest land and implementing climate smart forestry.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Providing creative, critical thinking and problem solving to support existing transactions and new deal opportunities.
- Supporting development of marketing and communication materials for investment marketing, fundraising and project design.
- Providing detailed primary and secondary market and investment research to support project development, investment design and investment marketing.
- Supporting detailed financial analyses, including modeling cash flow projections, building standard financial statements, structuring investment capital stacks and running sensitivity analyses.
- Working cross-functionally with TNC teams and external partners to engage conservation, financial and legal expertise in the development of impact investment deals

Educational Background:
MBA candidate (required)
Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree and 3 years’ experience; preference given to experience in sales and marketing, management consulting and investment banking, or similar financial services background.
- Experience developing and implementing complex projects in an unstructured environment with limited guidance; Outstanding analytical and project management capabilities.
- Strong writing and research skills with a proven ability to convey ideas and data through Power Point and Excel visualizations.
- Experience managing or supporting large scale projects, including working with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Forestry or natural resource management experience, preferred.
