The Senior Systems Engineer – Infrastructure/Development Operations will be responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, efficient operation and implementation of the in-house and cloud based information systems that support core organizational services and applications. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all server hardware, software and associated operating systems for The YMCA USA Microsoft server, enterprise computing and applications software environment.

This position will have primary responsibility for the deployment of the YMCA USA custom application environment, applying proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of YMCA USA services and applications investments.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Development Operations primary focus: Consult and assist in the migration, promotion and support of Applications Development configuration, release, upgrade and support processes
  • Primary member of the team to support third-party and custom in-house application systems including Yexchange (Extranet), Connect (Intranet), Learning & Career Development Center (LCDC), My Y Profile (MOYP), Access Manager \ Annual Reports, Brand Audit and Ybenefits.
  • Participate in the migration to an Azure cloud solution for all production systems and applications and ensure the proper automation and efficiencies related to custom app deployment in Azure are implemented
  • Solve daily custom application issues by servicing 3rd level application assigned tickets
  • Enhance deployments through use of automation tools and best practices
  • Document DEVOPS processes and procedures as related to environmental support and deployments
  • Meet regularly with IT Infrastructure Operations team to discuss high level needs as they relate to the custom applications being designed and deployed
  • Work with team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
  • Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Ensure application connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to application configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house custom developed apps.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
  • Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver application performance statistics and reports.
Educational Background: 
BA/BS in Information Technology or equivalent experience is required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in general IT systems engineering and administration – server and networking systems, applications, and all other related infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of current server hardware, Windows Server Operating Systems, general network protocols, topology, and configuration, directory services and Internet standards and security (DNS administration, security)
  • Strong background in administering web based applications built on an IIS and DOTNET platform
  • Experience with Azure or cloud provider IAAS and PAAS environments
  • Management of custom application monitoring tools, including New Relic, Alert Logic and other monitoring and alerting platforms
  • Experience with custom application deployments – from the planning to the deployment and operational phases
  • Experience with general IT automation and scripting especially PowerShell to extract information
  • Experience with Azure or cloud provider IAAS and PAAS environments
  • Knowledge of VSTS / GitHub for automated build and release
  • Ensure the security and integrity of the Production application environment as a whole
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot the root cause behind issues with custom applications
  • Help to maintain the consistency of the different environments related to the custom applications (Dev, Stage, Prod)
  • Ability to troubleshoot general network and infrastructure related issues, as they relate to the custom applications, and work with the Infrastructure team and find resolution
  • Ability to collaborate and work with Application business owners, custom app developers, as well as many other teams within the YMCA USA staff to enhance overall service and application support and operation
  • Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices.
  • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
