The Senior Manager, Strategic Philanthropy and Partnerships is responsible for developing individual strategy for identifying, cultivating and soliciting significant and major gifts, primarily from institutional donors – corporations and foundations - to support the strategic objectives of YMCA of the USA. This role works collaboratively and cross-departmentally to ensure proper due diligence and process compliance for all funding relationships secured, working in concert with all stakeholders to maintain consistent and transparent relationships with all funders.
This position has the ability to work remotely and must be conveniently accessible to a major airport.
Fundraising
- Leads the identification, cultivation and solicitation of significant and major philanthropic commitments from corporations and foundations to support the organization’s strategic objectives
- Develops individual donor strategy, timelines and other logistical obligations to ensure achievement of revenue goals in support of Y-USA’s priorities
- Plays a leading role in collaborating with all Y-USA departments to fully realize Financial Development's established revenue objectives and participates as department voice on internal committees and projects
- Serves as subject matter point person for one or more core areas of focus, developing strategy with department heads and program experts in order to pursue a matrix approach to fundraising, balancing donor focus and intent with program needs and priorities
- Proactively seeks opportunities to generate new proposals based on funding guidelines and interests, and by building and maintaining strong relationships with corporate and private/institutional donors, prospects and contacts
- Executes the drafting of donor legal agreements following organizational policies, non-profit best practices and requirements; in close collaboration with General Counsel and Financial Services
- Acts as a primary corporate and foundation fundraising resource to local Ys, sharing expertise and providing guidance and best practices
- Performs other duties as assigned by Senior Director, CorporateRelations
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in non profit financial development experience (or similar area) with progressive responsibility is required
- Experience creating and overseeing cultivation, solicitation, closing and stewardship strategies and techniques, particularly in the area of corporate and/or foundation fundraising is required
- Experience with advanced grant and proposal writing is required
- Experience executing contracts is required
- Ability to travel 15-20% of the time is required
- Experience with prospect development/donor database applications is required. Raiser’s Edge is preferred
- Experience with independent strategic and conceptual thinking, problem solving and decision-making is required
- Advanced negotiation and facilitation skills are required
- Advanced ability to influence others to achieve objectives is required
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills are required
- Ability to take initiative and handle rapidly shifting priorities is required
- Ability to work independently is required
- Intermediate computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) skills are required

Salary: $110,000.00 - $115,000.00
